The problem mayerial in Newmar and other mfgrs is NOT Ultrleather but rather a poor substitute / knock-off.
Ultrleather surface is 100% polyurethane and VERY durable. I have not seen any negative reports or reviews

The fabric problems started well before Wbgo took over Newmar and other MH mfgrs are having similar problems. Only difference appears to be how they handle it / respond to owners.

Newmar should be ashamed of themselves for using such cheap upholstery in their supposed upscale motorhomes.

I know they claim it's not their fault. That's an unacceptable excuse. When you purchase a high end motorhome and pay a high end price you have every right to expect high end components from an honest and reputable manufacturer. Newmar's decision to specify cheap fabrics is Newmar's decision and they should own it.

Anybody considering the purchase of a new Newmar unit should consider Newmar's conscious decision to cheap out and cut corners and wonder where else they may have decided to specify cheap components.
You all know that it was just about 2 years ago (or close to it) that Newmar sold out to Winnebago.... I wonder if that has anything to do with it....possibly anticipating an upcoming Buyout...

I have a 2008 Ventana, built may 2007 with ultraleather on the drivers and front passenger seats, couch, and chair with ottoman. After 13 years they all look like new!

It was Nov 8, 2019 the buyout took place.

In 2018 I contacted Newmar about the problem I was having with the chairs in my 2015 DSDP. I sent them photos and they immediately agreed to resolve the problem. They replaced the two recliners and couch and recovered the two captain's chairs. They shipped everything to the local dealer who changed out everything. I was very impressed with how Newmar handled the issue. They knew there were issues and just took care of the problem.

With all this bad publicity about Newmar's furniture coverings dating back several years, it hasn't seemed to affect all those standing in line to purchase a new one has it? Seems like I remember (but that's really stretching the old mind) that either this year or last year all the production slots were sold out before that year's production even started, or immediately after.
I thought my 2015 re-upupholstery job by Newmar fixed my problem, but that's what I get for thinking. Just noticed the other day some of the piping is starting to crack and peel so Newmar just put pack the same sorry furniture covering as the first set. More than likely all re-do jobs are the same with Newmar figuring the second coverings with the cheap material will out last the warranty and the customer is stuck.

Living in a small community area it's going to be difficult to find a competent upholstery that can do the job right this time.

While I sympathize with y'all I don't know what we can do about it.

Several years ago I purchased an electronic recliner - from an elderly (recent widowed) gal - and she assured me it was "real leather".

It turned out to be fake pleather.

Upholstery

This may have been mentioned before.

Some companies will go to good reputation mfg. and demand a price point so far below normal contract price that both parties agree to lesser materials (or the vendor uses cheaper materials) so the customer still gets the brand name. The brand name product you buy at big box retail is not always the same manufacturing run of the product you buy somewhere else.

We purchased new captains chairs and couch for our DS 3 years ago from a Flexsteel Distributor and they still look excellent. They are not the models we've seen in any Newmar Coaches. They also had extra material so my DW could remove the Newmar window treatments and replace them with her own design that matched the new furniture.

Also when companies change leadership the new guy has a tendency to want to make their mark and one of the behaviors is to cut costs to increase profit margin convinced they can do better than their predecessor who did the tried and proven method. That can work for the short term to increase the value of the company to sell it. hmmmmmmm

Bad upholstery

Yarddroid, This is the seat covers I purchased from Amazon about 2 yrs ago - Covercraft SVR1001TN Seat Cover. If you hurry, you can see them in my just sold 2007 Canyon Star on RV Trader. I’m about remove it, but will give you a couple of days. The ultra leather seats never flaked. Still looked good. I wanted to keep it that way. Several potential buyers commented on how perfect the seat covers matched the original seats. It isn’t a perfect match but is very complimentary. Hope this helps.

I sold a 2017 Jayco Greyhawk over the same issue. I put $900 into new foam and springs for the dinette and couch before I realized the covering is also junk.
I was seriously mulling over a Supreme Aire. Guess I better hold off.
