We had a Newmar Essex we bought new in 04 and sold in 18 which had 140K miles and never stored in doors that looked almost new when we sold it. All exterior and interior silicone was in excellent condition. What ever sealers Newmar uses are good for a least 2 decades with a little care.

Yes, they use silicone to seal all exterior edges.
I had to remove it all prior to painting...took many hours....paint just doesn't want to stick to silicone...

There are many types of silicone. I'm sure the type that Newmar uses is not what we pick up at Lowe's for $5.95 a pop.
When I was doing replacement windows on residences we used an OSI type silicone that was almost like super glue. The stuff was expensive and lasted out in the elements for years and years.

So would this be what they use around all the windows?

Silicone is ok to "scoop the loop" if installed right. But as someone who's considering a used newmar, I'm more likely to need to repair one and wanted to know what I was up against.
I haven't used silicone since learning about it and we don't use it around the plant anymore. But any sealant can break down Ive learned, and I'd just rather have something like Proflex to deal with..
Thanks everyone.

Check out Comnet, they show all the sealants used. If in doubt, call the factory.
