Newmar Water Pump Issue

Hi Newmar owners - I was hoping someone could assist me with a water pump issue. I have a 2018 Newmar BayStar 3113. Last week while touring - all of a sudden my water pump switches seemed to lose power/stop working. In the past when I was not hooked up to water at the campground - I simply hit the water pump switch near the faucet - the little light would turn green and then the water would flow like it should - the other day - none of the pump switches would work (i.e. hit the button - no green light). I have checked the fuse that runs the Monitor panel and the water pump - the fuse is fine and the Monitor panel is still powered up. I went into the wet bay and found what I believe is a part associated with the water pump - it says part # wpc-143 - it has a small green light and a small yellow light - neither light is on - when I manually flip the water pump switch which would normally supply water to my outdoor shower handle - the green light on the WPC-143 comes on but then immediately turns off. I am assuming maybe this part is bad but I am not sure how to know

The part your looking at WPC-143 is most likely the water pump control module , and it may be fused separately from the switches . Do you see any markings on the wiring connector that would indicate the module's 12 volt power supply wire , so you could test it with a volt meter ?

Markings could be similar to this brand of pump controller 12v+ power.

Thatís the relay pack for the switches. It needs to be replaced. The relay is not engaging.

plebreux......Newmar hasn't used a water pump controller in the DP's in a few years, but if Skip is correct and you have a "latching" controller in your coach, it will look like the one Skip posted or like the one below.

There is a VERY simple way to test if it's good or bad and also a way to use the water pump when that unit fails. The latching controller operates by supplying GROUND to the water pump, not power. Simply take a piece of wire, connect it to a good ground in the water bay and touch it to the black wire on the water pump. If the pump turns on, the latching relay is bad. $35.00 on Amazon. I always carried a spare. In an emergency, you can just ground the water pump and bypass the switch.

Just happened to us while we were packing for our last trip. That was the issue. Thank goodness Northtrail had them in stock.

It was very easy to replace.

Having a very similar issue on a 2015 BayStar 3124. Where would this switch be located? We have tested all switches (3) and not power to any. Pump tests out fine. Thanks everyokne!

The wires on the pump, especially the black ground go right to the latching controller. It should be in the wet bay within a foot or so of the pump. Newmar liked to attach to the front wall of the bay, up and behind the water panel on the DP's. I know the gasser wet bays are configured a little differently, so just follow that wiring.

Dutch Star Don ... thank you for the assist. We found the controller above the cargo bat light in the wet bay, as stated. Jumped the controller and found the pump worked (suction but, but no pressure inside the coach). Steady Green light on controller, no yellow. New controller on order, new pump in hand. This is just an inconvenience at this point as vaca is nearly over.
