Newmars requiring 3 roof ACs
What length of Newmar would require 3 ACs? One poster said to make sure 3 airs were ordered with a new coach but I'm only looking at the 37'
DUtch Star which comes with 2 roof airs. Do I need to be concerned about a 3rd air on this short a coach? Is it possible to get more airs installed from the factory than what comes standard?

We do just fine with two 13.5 heat pumps even in 95° weather, in fact I have to run the rear one at 76° and the front at 72° or the bedroom is a meat locker.
But, we have thermal windows and an extra insulation package that was optional in 2002.
Looking to order a '15 or '16 43' and will go with the three units then.

We have the gas version of the Kountry Star, in 37 ft. 2 roof airs along with the dash unit have been adequite in travel up to 110 F. Heat input from the rear engine diesel might be different. With ours, the rear bedroom gets almost cold, with the thermostats set at 72, while the front of the coach is a bit warmer. This might be reversed for you. However, if I were looking at a 40 ft model, the 3 roof units would be attractive. Also, an alternate for you, is 15,000 btu roof units vs the standard 13,500. 11 % more cooling, with almost no increase in weight, and no increase in wind drag.

I wouldn't worry about it on a 37', we normally only use 2 on our 43'.

In a 37 I think 2 would be fine, unless you plan to spend most of your time in the lower latitudes. We had a 40 ft. that just barely kept up with cooling in FL. When one went out (month to get fixed) we were not comfortable. If I were ordering, I'd get the extra if I could afford it - spreads the work load and gives you a back up.

It depends on the heat load and the direction the MH is facing.
The bedroom is always cooler as there are just few small windows.
The windshield is an extra large single pane window that lets a lot of heat in and there are several large windows up front.
I would go with 3 if it was an option.

Wagonmaster2, We have a 43 ft. Mt. Aire and two have been more than sufficient in 100 + temps in AZ. These are 15 K heat pumps.
Get what you think you need, it's your money.

It is doubtful Newmar will put a 3rd unit on a 37'. We ordered our 2014 DS 4018, and they would NOT put a 3rd unit on ours. We have not used it extensively in hot weather, so can't speak to the effectiveness of two units.

We have the 3736 and have spent some time in 100 degree plus areas without any issues. We run the two units at 72 degrees. If you were to spend a lot of time in 100 degree plus weather, I would make certain you do upgrade both units to the 15k BTU as that's what we have.

You probably will never need three units in a 37 ' coach even in the desert or central or south FL or south Texas. I have a 43'6" inch coach and live in FL. August and September we certainly needed them. If I had a DS personally three would be my choice.

We have a 36' Ventana with 2 15K units. We spent 4 days in low 100+ with high humidity and no shade and it did fine.

we live in southern Arizona. Even in temps over 100 the bedroom will get very cold if wanted and the living area stays comfortable. We're always commenting on how well the Dutch Star is insulated from heat and noise

X2. With our two units on our 2012 3732 we stay nice and cool on the hottest days, a third unit would be unnecessary. Newmar seems to insulate these units very well.
