Not Paying Attention.

Well I have read all the dumb things people have done that I shook my head at but now I have one of my very own stupid move. Hit the Road Trip satellite dome while pulling into the storage area and not only destroyed the cover but broke off the LMB. I have been emailing Winegard about repair or replacement and they quoted 1699.00 for a replacement and they just ignore my request if they repair them. I also ask if there is a direct replacement that was cheaper and not a in-motion since we don't watch TV going down the road but they just don't respond to the question. Anyone replace one with a cheaper model.

Bite the bullet and buy it $1699 will fade away and also make you a little more careful in the future.

That's what I do when I make a little mistake.

I am surprised to hear they are not responding. I found them to be extreamly helpful about 6 months ago getting back to every email I sent. Perhaps you need to just call them?

They do make a stationary version. Don’t remember model #. But you can search for them online. Camper world web site will also have them. The winegard traveler will be more robust during weather events but us comparable in price to the in motion

You might look at one of their portables and see if it can be mounted in the place of this one. They are in the $300-400 range. We have a in motion on the roof of our dsdp but we used the portable instead since we never seemed to be able to park with a clear view of satellites. Having the portable version made it easy to move the dish where we could get a clear view.

Since then we dropped the dish and use a Fire Stick and have a portable hotspot to get our TV.

To update:

Winegard did contact me today and said I can send it in for repair but I found a used one that I purchased for less than than repairing the old one.

As far replacing it for 1699.00 is what Winegard quoted me for direct replacement for the in motion dome. For that kind of money I would of got the open face version for few hundred bucks more.

Glad you found a reasonable replacement. We had the in motion on our BayStar. Switched to the traveler on our Ventana. Much better! You get the HD channels and we have been 500 miles north of the Canadian border and still had great reception.
