Oasis heater question?
Ok guys I'm down here in Dallas getting my heater leak fixed again. We bought this coach 3 weeks ago and one of the problems was that the heater up front in the dash was leaking fluid. They fixed it but it started leaking again. I was having trouble keeping it warm up in the living section. I posted about that earlier. My question is is the heat supposed to come out of the lowest vents on the dash. They say the key has to be on before it does. I can't imagine that the other register that is below the drawers in the kitchen is supposed to keep such a large area warm, which it doesn't. Would like to know something before I argue with them in the morning while they are fixing it.

The vent below the drawer is for the front heat but you should have another in the kitchen.

I don't own an Oasis, but I do have a Hurricane which is the predecessor system. If you have Oasis vents on the lower portion of the dash, there should be no reason for the ignition key to be on for those vents to produce heat. It makes no sense for any portion of your house heating system to be dependent on key position.

The dash Oasis register has it's own switch on the dash.
The key never needs to be on for any Oasis part to function.

Additional info would help in assisting you with your problem. We have a 2015 Dutch Star and the Oasis system has four or more heating ducts. The duct on the driver console is controlled by the switch on the dashboard. The settings are low or high and the ignition does not have to be on. There is one outlet under the sink. In the bathroom duct functions only if the (heater/blower) switch in the bathroom is on. There are two more outlets in the bedroom and rear bathroom. On larger Dutch Stars there may be additional outlets. Obviously all ducts will be generating heat only if all zones are calling for heat.

Thank you all for your input. I do have a switch on the dash. It does not work. I'm thinking with the 1st leak it has shorted out something down by the heater core that prevents the switch from working. Just a guess. I'll argue with them in the morning about that switch not working when they are in there working on the leak.

This link will give you answers for what ever heating system you have with diagrams of your heater system plumbing layout, its a different heating system than your dash EVAN's heating system.

The saga continues! Well they decided that the hole they tried to patch in the heat exchanger didn't hold. Guess the leak was a clue. They have ordered another one to be installed a week from Monday. They hooked up a bypass for it. Everything was good to go. Left north Dallas at 5 pm. Got to San Antonio about 11 that night. The vacation was a go. Got to the rv park and got set up. Went to take a shower and no hot water! Was in the phone all day trying to fix the problem. Tried several things nothing worked. It's in summer mode. The unit will come on and run for about a minute then shut off. Will take a hour or so and come on again same time duration. The water will be very hot for 30 seconds then nothing but cold. I have read the link and trouble shooting but can't seem to find a answer and neither can my rv place. Any ideas? Am tempted to take it back to Dallas tomorrow and leave it with them and call this vacation over. Sorry for the long post.

How would you patch the heat exchanger? I just replaced mine which was leaking out the overflow tank.

Just a wild guess, have you checked the reservoir fluid level or the front of the Oasis unit for a low fluid level?

Yes rechecked the fluid level again today. It's fine. Maybe I used the wrong word - exchanger - it's the radiator looking thing with a fan attached in the lower part of the front dash where the heat is supposed to come out. This is where they fixed a temporary bypass.

It's all most like a pump is out that circulates the water? I'm thinking that the reason it starts every hour or so is where the sensor that monitors the water temp cools down and then it kicks in to heat. After that area gets hot it shuts down because the water isn't circulating. Just a thought.
