Oasis heating without diesel burner

Our last Newmar had Hydro-Hot heating system which if you were going to use the floor heaters you also needed to turn the diesel burner on because in 5 minutes it would shut off because the coolant wasn't hot enough. Hydro-Hot only had one electric heating element but with Oasis we have 2 and have found that with 35 to 45 degree temps we can run our floor heaters for over 1 hour plus and still have heaters working great and plenty hot and no diesel burner on. The heating and AC in our new LA is outstanding and with the electric heated floors it sure is comfortable inside. Might try for those Newmar owners out there running hydronic heater without using diesel burner.

We typically only use the two electrical elements for either just the furnace or just the hot water. I know we have had sometimes that just the elements wasn't quite enough for a hot shower if it was cold and ww were using the furnace also. I wonder if your LA and our MA use the same oasis system. I also use the diesel if I want quick heat either from the furnace or water.

Hi Tom - Same experience here. With the floors on and both electric elements running we have good heat down to below freezing. Some different than out previous Aquahot.

I think the floor heat on our New Aire is electric, and doesn’t use the Oasis coolant. Ours too works well without the diesel burner down close to freezing. It will be getting a workout this week in Nappanee, so we’ll see.

I wrote this a couple of years ago regarding the use of the Oasis heating and when to use what.

We are aware that our heated floors are electric. Entegra uses Hdyro/Aqua Hot for Hydronic heating and their heated floors are from hot water lines running under tile. We have been told by both service workers and salesmen that to use your Oasis for heating the coach you needed to run diesel burner. We are finding that not to be true, at least when temps are in mid 30 on up. When temps hit low 30 and colder I am sure you need your diesel burner.

We are in Breckenridge Colo. for the winter and only use the elec. side of the Oasis other than to use hot water then we turn on the diesel side of the Oasis. Have been to -10 so far this year and no issues with the elec. keeping up. Heated floors help also but just leave those on low. We maintain about 68 degrees most of the time.

We use the burner in the spring, fall and winter for hot showers. If the temps drop into the teens or below, we turn it on in the morning to give the electrical a break. Otherwise, the electrical keeps up just fine in furnace mode. The floor heat goes on in the fall on low or medium but by winter its high in the aft bath and main salon and low in the bedroom. We think that floor heat in conjunction with the furnace provides all the heat we need. Hot water seems to be not possible without the burner anytime but the summer months.
All the best,

Jeff and Lynn

Our electric is $0.17 per kwhr and the diesel is around $2.90 per gallon here in Florida. We turned off the electric Oasis heaters and will turn on the diesel only when needed.

At those prices, running the Oasis on diesel rather than electric is almost half the cost.
