Oasis Maintenance

We recently purchased a 2016 Newmar Ventana with about 45k miles. I don’t think the Oasis system has ever been serviced, nothing seems to be “broken” today but I’d feel a lot better knowing that it was up to date….so I spoke with the RV tech and he said I’d be looking at the “5 year maint kit” and 8 gallons of thermo fluid, parts totaling over $900….and 4 hr labor at $135….sounds kinda high to me…..

Does the fluid need to be replaced?

You don't need to replace the boiler fluid. It doesn't go bad. If it's greenish yellow or pink then stay with that color of boiler fluid or it'll turn brown like mud. A 5 year kit costs about $335 and some technicians charge about $60 to install it. The 1-year kit is about $135 and is a little faster to install. I'd go with the 1-year kit and keep the old parts as spares. But that's me.

It is not "kinda high", it is ridiculously high.

If it works and does not smoke, then just use it.

If it smokes, replace the fuel filter and the fuel nozzle.

Oasis system ( Burner module. ) is pretty easy to service with basic tools and mechanical skills. There are a couple of U Tube videos showing the process.
You could probably get by with the 1 year kit, but getting close to your 5 yr, I’d be inclined to go that way. You didn’t mention if unit was smoking, or having other issues. Maybe former owner didn’t put a lot of hours on it

According to the President of Century Chemicals, the Transfer Fluid is good for 10 years. While ITR recommends changing sooner, which may be why a tech would say it needs changing, I was told by Century's president that as long as it's not significantly discoloring or contaminated somehow, ten years is the change interval.
