Oasis question
When traveling in cold temps do you leave your diesel burner on or depend on heat in the engine loop to provide heat for furnace.

Why not leave the diesel burner switch "on" ? It doesn't override the engine loop. It only allows the system to
use the diesel burner if there is insufficient heat in the heat exchanger from all other sources.

Once you shut down engine the coach is going to cool plenty fast with the recent temps if burner has been running also there is no down time to build up the heat necessary to keep your tank bays warm before any freeze ups of piping or drains which most plumbing is in the insulated floor.

From what I read in the manuals you should shut off the AC switch, but leave the burner switch on. The burner won't run, the engine provides plenty of heat for the system. When you shut the coach down it will continue to use the the engine heat until it has cooled off then the burner will kick back in.

In cold temps the burner is always on. If we're driving or parked.

I did not think Newmar connected the engine loop on the Oasis. Has anyone confirmed their Oasis engine loop is connected? If this loop is connected the Oasis could be used to preheat the engine in lieu of the electric engine heater.

The Oasis in our KGDB does not have an engine loop. I have no idea if later years or other models do.

I had the preheat pump installed during the build. The default install does use engine waste heat for interior and domestic heat but does not allow the oasis to warm the engine. With the preheat pump installed, it eliminates the need for plugging in the engine block heater.
I believe the plumbing is all there only a pump and switch need to be connected.

I copied and pasted this from the Oasis owners manual:
Activating Engine Heat & Pre-heat (If Option is installed)
Pre-heating the Engine
• Turn the engine preheat switch on the Remote Operating Panel to the ON position with the burner or AC switch on. The engine preheat pump and coolant pump will be activated once the OASIS Heating Module is in its set operating temperature range. The engine will start to be preheated by the OASIS Heating Module.
• Note: An engine preheat pump does not come supplied with the Distribution Module. The power and ground for the pump is available from the Distribution Module.
Engine Heat Used for Domestic Water or Space Heating
• Start the vehicle engine and let it come up to the normal operating temperature. Turn the burner switch on the Remote Operating Panel to the ON position. The OASIS Heating Module will come up to the set operating temperature range and will cycle OFF. The heat from the vehicle engine will be transferred from the engine to the domestic water and space heating loop.
