How does the Oasis hot water heater system work? When should you turn the burner on that utizes diesel fuel?

Thank you

We have found it necessary to turn on the Oasis when the weather gets down around freezing as the electric heating coils don't seem able to keep up with the heat demand, especially when you are plugged in to a 30 Amp service. 50 Amp works better, but still not great. If you turn the heat down at night, the Oasis is useful in getting temps back to where you want them, then turn it off. Other times we use it are when we need lots of hot water - washing machine, showers, etc. Sure glad I added it to the options list.

I hope these 2 attachments help. I'm not sure which model Oasis you have, but if these are not for your unit you can go to ITR and download both the owners and service manuals.

We turn our Oasis on in the morning that we begin traveling if we don't plan to plug up at night. We then have hot water for showers when we stop for the evening. We were told this does not use any extra diesel.

No. The coach engine does heat the Oasis tank, but it can't handle heating the coach when it's below 30.

Then you just have to flip on the burner switch. It all works on 12 volt and diesel.

No there is no water tank with an Oasis. It's an on demand system for hot water. As long as there is enough heat being generated by the system you'll never run out of hot water. I say this because there are electric elements and a diesel fired boiler. If the incoming water temperature is not that cold (like in the summer) the electric elements will keep up. When the incoming water is cold (like in the winter) the electric elements usually aren't enough and that's when you use the diesel burner. With the burner on you'll never run out of hot water.

The Oasis unit holds 16 gallons of boiler fluid.

All water is in lines only, sorry for the confusion.

Don't mean to take this thread too far off topic but has anyone tried installing a HeatWorks unit in their RV?? ...... < HeatWorks - Product Specifications > ..
I realize its not a drop-in direct replacement for an Attwood unit, but according to the specifications it might be able to keep up with demand.

Guess I was a little premature. According to a Kickstarter website, the HeatWorks will not be available until May-2014.

The Oasis if working correctly should supply as much hot water for showers that would be needed without add on.
