I stick it in and it stops about three inches in and at a downward angle. I get a flash light and look in the tube and surprise! The tube goes UP after a slight downturn. Yep, any oil added has to flow up before going down into the engine. Glad I didn't need to add oil.
This has to be a Freightliner design and the only way to work around it is to use a funnel with a flexible tube about 18 inches long in order to get over the hump and down toward the engine.
Anybody else found this?

I doubt this is a Freightliner issue, this has Newmar written all overall it. Even if it was Freightliner who did it, Newmar should have corrected it before they put their name on it. I've owned a Safari, Discovery, Country Coach, 2 Monaco's, 2 Winnebago's, Leisure Travel, and finally a Newmar. And that's just the motorhomes. The Newmar is our first gas coach, so it is at the lower end of their lineup. Fit and finish is actually pretty good. Switch location, design, owners manual and customer service, are lacking. You get excellent customer service one time, next time you call you'll get someone who couldn't pick out the only motorhome in the parking lot.
