on Newmar's prior to them using computerized steering

I had a 2010 Ventana with computerized steering and absolutely loved it. Now I'm looking to buy an older Newmar before they used computerized steering.
How did the older Mountain Aire, Dutch Stars, etc. drive? Did they wonder much going down the highway? When did Newmar start installing computerized steering? Any other brands of motorhomes, have it?

When you mention “computerized steering “
are you referring to the comfort drive system?

I have owned a 1999 Dutch Star & a 2005 Mountain Aire without Comfort Drive & they both handled & drove great. It took more effort to steer them in heavy cross winds than with Comfort Drive.

I think Newmar started using Comfort Steer on their Luxury model coaches in late 2010 or early 2011 model years-others here will better know the exact date better than I. I know I have it on my 2014 MADP & love it!

Happy Trails

It's also what turning radius does the older Newmar have compared to the newer ones. My 2002 DSDP was 43 degrees and my 2015 is I believe 63 degrees, much tighter turning radius. Also much less fatigue after driving several hours with the comfort drive.

I believe 2007 was the first year for Comfort Drive, but that year didn't have the adjustable control knob. I believe that the 2008 did have the adjustable control knob.

I was afraid the older Newmar’s didn’t have the improvements of apparently 2008 and up. Those improvements separate Newmar from other brands.

Thank You for your response!!
