Onan generator won't start only clicks

I have a 2012 Newmar Canyon Star 3856. With the engine running the Onan generator won't start and only clicks a few times. Any ideas such as starter solenoid?

Check the voltage on your batteries with engine running and not running - both house and coach. If half-decent use your boost switch and see if genny will start. If batteries are low charge and retry. If batteries are toast - you might try recharging - or replace.

You can do the same on shore power to see if your on-board charger is working...

What's your fuel level? most of these generators will not start if you have less than 1/4 tank

Had a similar problem on our 2014 Southwind with an Onan 5500.
We changed the fuel filter, fuel pump and then found an air lock in the fuel line.
My mechanic installed an inexpensive check valve in the fuel line and now everything work perfect.
All the best in your search.

Three things to try. First of all, check to make sure all of your battery connections are clean and tight. Next, check the connections from the battery to the generator start solenoid. If you have a meter, put it on the positive and negative leads from the batteries. Try to crank the generator. If the voltage drops below 12 volts, recharge or replace as needed. If the voltage does not drop then more than likely you have a bad solenoid.
