Haha yep, well I checked at 9 AM and I got 70 down so that's good. Moral is it's NOT the SIM and it's not the modem you're using (MiFi vs. PW vs. CP vs. Phone) - it's the carrier, tower, wind speed, solar flares, sun spots, fungshwayyyy, and every other excuse we can give Verizon or any other carrier. It's cellular.
Our setups are capable, it's a matter of what we are given from the tower.

Agree. And for Verizon the issue is not global. It all happens tower by tower. It is like every tower is a unique cellular provider. Drive another 5 miles down the road and you have a totally different experience.

I just took Neal's suggestion and mounted the Panorama antenna up on the AC shroud. Ran the wires inside through the window to do some testing on ATT.
With internal paddles
Down Up
22.9 9.11
19.9 9.69
With Panorama
13.6 30.5
12.9 28.7
Back with Paddles
17.7 6.09
12.4 6.55
So, what is up with the upload? Download? Obvious difference but not what I expected.

Optimizing LTE-A Modem Performance in an RV
Throttling I believe. When I see a higher upload it tells me what I can get but they're not giving me. Just my assumption. I've always seen this with the mobley.
Reboot or do a disable and back to priority 1 and you'll probably see more variance. This is cellular.
Overall good speeds.
I always disable when changing antennas. Any new connection to a tower is a complete new game.

Thanks, I will continue to test.
BTW...talked to Panorama engineer today about ground plane. Said in a lab string you might see a small difference. In real world usage, would not provide any discernible benefit.

I've been working with Peplink on getting access to the TTL setting and it appears it may be available in the upcoming 8.0.1 release, if not then they are going to push a beta to me but it sounds like they are going to expose it. I suggested they put it in the /support.cgi page for easier access vs. a command line setting. We'll see what happens but I look forward to seeing how this may help defeat the hotspot detection.

Basically on how the tower pings the hotspot.. and sees what it is vs a phone or tablet

Duhh, thanks. I was thinking about it from the Pepwave out, not from the carrier knowing what type of device it was.

About an hour out of NYC on the Tappan Zee Bridge.
140mbps down, 27ms pings...
Amazing what LTE-A/CAT11 can do with a good tower/signal.

MiFi 8800 firmware update doesn’t seem to be good. Twice now mine has shutdown. I don’t know the cause of the shutdown. I also leave it plugged in and charging now as I thought maybe my on/off cycle was the previous cause. Not sure I’m going to continue with the 8800. May put the SIM back in the pepwave along side sprint.
