It's not a direct replacement from reading on irv2 forum so will contact Spartan to find out what is needed to install in our 18 LA with the Spartan K-3 605 chassis. Hoping this is what we have been looking for the last two years of owners have to have their DEF head replaced.
I just picked up my 2017 DS from the Amarillo Cummins dealer with a new GEN 7 DEF head installed. All covered under warranty by Spartan who sent the unit to Cummins for installation.
As we were coming across I-40 from Ft. Smith I began to get the low DEF, high temp, DEF quality, warning codes. Spoke to Spartan and they recommended not turning the engine off but driving either to Oklahoma City Cummins ( they told me they couldn’t get to me for 2 weeks) or to Amarillo Cummins. By the time we reached Amarillo, Spartan had already opened a claim and the next day when Cummins called Spartan they sent the head right away.
As a note of interest. At Amarillo Cummins there was a Tiffin that had been towed in the day before with a bad DEF head, a Blue Bird school bus in one bay with a bad DEF head, and before I left the service center a second school bus was being towed in with a bad DEF head. Matt, the service manager said on the school buses they replace just the sensors and not the entire head. Spartan sends a new head for installation.
