Ordering a Dutch Star

I'm close to ordering my first coach and will likely order a Newmar Dutch Star. Can you all give some guidance regarding discount I should go after as far as percent off of MSRP?

For what it's worth I nearly ordered a Thor and was being offered 28% lower than MSRP but decided to continue looking at different makes and eventually found Newmar.

Depending on the year '17 or '18 you can get between 28-32 percent off MSRP. If you're ordering new give your ordering specs to several dealers and see who comes back with the best price.

X2 about multiple dealers. We just sent out to 6 dealers and the range was amazing. Steinbring in Minn was the best price with Midway a close second.

When either ordering on getting a coach on a lot you have 2 choices for a chassis and the better choice of the 2 is a Spartan. On a 17 you would get disc brakes on all 3 axles and on the 18 you would get disc brakes on the front and drive axle. There are numerous other advantages which have been posted on this Newmar forum. This Spartan chassis choice is a cost option.

Tom, I'm just curious why you're such a passionate proponent of Spartan. Tilzbow is asking about price. Are you affiliated with Spartan?

A new video on the Newmar website says the Spartan option is a no-cost option on the 2018's. For what it is worth, I have perfectly happy with our Freightliner XCR chassis and Freightliner customer support and service.

Spartan chassis option

The no up-charge option for the Spartan chassis, if one wishes, is in writing at the following website. The rep also says so at 7:08 of the video available on the website. I'd like to be shopping myself but we are very happy with our 2012 DS 3735.

Spartan chassis option, again

This is advertising the 2017 model DS. The 2018 option, if any, is not mentioned.

The 2018 indicates no additional dollars. They did reduce the number of disk brakes from all 3 axles to 2 axles on 2018. Not sure if Spartan improved any items. Freightliner has disk brakes on the front only.

Tom never misses an opportunity to plug Spartan, he must be on their payroll.

Personally, I don't see the big deal with the disc brakes. I've put 24,000 miles on my 15' Dutch Star and it has stopped just fine every time without discs.

Besides disc brakes. What is up the big difference in the two. Is this more of a Ford vs Chevy, Windows vs Apple, Coke vs Pepsi thing. I see where it is good for Newmar to have more chassis and the two companies compete for Newman's business. I am looking to buy this year and if I don't get a used coach or one off the lot I will have to decide on which box to check.
