Thanks. We hope it is as reliable as our 1999 Dutch Star, 2003 See Ya and the 05 Country Coach.
In going through and testing it we've found a few things that need attention, but that is to be expected. The few problems are not a result of poor quality, just components that need some work.

One question? We don't find a propane tank monitor. How do you know the level of propane if there isn't a monitor somewhere? We found the tank and battery monitor, but so far nothing for the propane.

Sue,
I believe the propane monitor is an option. (I find them unreliable anyway). The indicator for ours is over the sink in the bathroom. Just a small box with a light that changes color.
There should be a changeover valve between the two tanks with a small sight glass. The switch will point at the tank you are using and the float will be green. When the tank is empty it will start pulling from the other tank and the float will be red. Then just flip the switch to the other tank and refill the empty one.

Thanks for the info. We'll go check it out more. (when it stops snowing)
We do have a monitor panel by the bathroom sink, but it doesn't include the propane. And you're right, they aren't always accurate!

Just purchased a 1999 American Star 29 foot 3 slides in excellent condition from the 2nd owner. We had been shopping motorhomes but decided to take a baby step into the RV life just in case it isn't our cup of tea. Fortunately our motorhome shopping list included Newmar because of their reputation for quality and service. So far we are pleased with the quailty of the unit in spite of it being bottom of the line for them at the time. Just picked uyp a Honda EU300Is Generator for dry camping if necessary.
We have an 11 foot Truck Camper but that is more mine for things I do like go to Bonnevile.
I'm retiring January 1st and we plan to head to Quartzite AZ. and see what that is all about then we have no real plan or schedule which is intentional. Figure we will be gone a couple of months.

Welcome and enjoy your 5vr. We've had motorhomes for years, but with no longer full timing, we just picked up a 5ver since we had the truck. Sure enjoy it.
We'll head to El Mirage, Az. in Jan. Enjoy the Quartzite Zoo! It is an experience, that is for sure!

Just realized there was a Newmar group on this site... I just joined and have a 40' X-Aire Toy Hauler on order. Just curious if anyone else out there has one. I was wondering if any problems or what to be on the look out for..... Unit is suppose to be in middle of January....

The X-Aire is a pretty new product just introduced . There are not too many of them on the road yet but I can assure you, that being a Newmar product you will have a great support team behind you if something does come up. We have been very happy with our 04 Mountain Aire.

New to this group as well. We have a 36 BDSA KS Fiver, with two bedrooms, and a full and a half bath. It is a wonderful coach, especially for taking the grandchildren with us, they love the bunk beds, and the bunks are even long enough for a tall adult to sleep in although the upper is limited to 150 pounds. The coach is wonderful and we really love it. Did find that my Ford F-350 CrewCab 4WD Diesel Dually was NOT ENOUGH TRUCK for this trailer! Had a tranny failure at 76000miles and found that coming down Saluda Grade in NC that the braking was on the ragged edge of unsafe. Enough of that I upgraded to the Freightliner. Now I don't even know the trailer is back there.
You will love your Newmar coach.

Glad to see some action on this thread - we are kind of outnumbered by the MH owners on this forum.
Nice looking rig. Have you been over to the MDT and HDT forums at escapees.com? Lots of good info there.
By the by we carry 300 gallons in twin 150 tanks and you are right, filling up is a killer.
Good thing is we can go a long, long way between fill-ups

As new 5th owners arrive at this forum maybe this thread will get more use.
After all its for all 5th wheel owners.
I like the 5th wheels just was not very good at backing telephone poles on the back of Diamond "T" so better I stay away from 5th's.

Add one more Newmar 5er owner to the tally! We pick up our '08 Cypress 32RKSH within the week (as soon as a clear snow-less day arrives!) Traded in our MH and can't wait to 'unpack'!
