Passenger seat won't rotate counter-clockwise
I just purchased a 2023 Baystar 3014, but the passenger seat hits the doghouse when you try to rotate it CCW. I contacted Newmar Customer Service and this was their response:
Good afternoon,
I tried to reach out by phone, but was unsuccessful and your mailbox was full. We have reviewed the pictures and video. According to engineering the passenger seat will need to be rotated clockwise to turn the seat to face the house living area. In order to do this you cannot be in the seat while it is rotating. You will have to stand up to do this. Once the seat is facing the living area the footrest can be extended.
Thank you,

The dealer I purchased the coach from says they have another coach, same model, with the same problem.
My question to this group is:
Anyone else having the same issue?
Any solution to the problem?
I am disappointed in Newmar's "Customer Service" and how they are resolving this problem with a new coach!

I don't understand what the issue or problem is. I don't recall which way I turn the seats in our Dutch Star but they only turn one way. I am always standing up when turning them to face aft.

What don’t you like about CS? They responded to your issue in a timely manner I suspect. The fact you may not like their response, not the answer you were looking for, doesn’t rise to the level of bad customer service.

It helps to experiment with various seat positions, i.e, seatback forward, seat forward/back, armrest up/down, etc.
If it’s contacting your doghouse when rotating CCW, try moving your seat all the way back and then rotating.
I don’t have a coach like yours, but I’m on my second CL A and they are all quirky.

WE have tried multiple positions, no luck. The dealer we purchased the coach from has the identical problem on another identical coach, and they agree that the seat should rotate in the CCW direction. So it is not just my opinion.
The customer service did respond in a timely manner, and no I did not like their response, but they are not addressing the problem with the seat. They are giving me a workaround, not a solution. I was already aware of the workaround, but would like an actual solution.

If the geometry doesn’t work, the only thing I can see to do is have the seat remounted in a spot that allows it to swivel properly.
Good luck.

Which way a seat needs to rotate seems like a small thing if the end result is is the same. As long as the seat can be used facing the living area is whats important. I am pretty sure there are a lot of other gas coaches with the same issue.
My passerger seat can only rotate counter clockwise but I never thought that was a design or build issue.

Just a thought but maybe it was designed that way so the seat could only be rotated in one direction to face the living area and then reversed to face forward so that the wiring underneath the seat would not get wrapped around the pedestal. That could easily happen if the seat were swiveled multiple times without keeping track of which way it was turned each time. The wiring is only a finite length and will pull apart if subjected to being stretched beyond its limits.

I have a 2023 3014. Turn the passenger seat clockwise to turn it around. Works great. The design does not allow a counter clockwise turn.

Many seats require the seat to be in the FORWARD position to rotate the full 180°. It seems counter intuitive to many and they move the seat back. Unfortunately that makes the swing radius larger and more likely to hit somewhere. If it's the arm rests or back interfering try different positions for those. If the steering wheel is the tilt type it should be raised fully as well.
The last thing is how the power seat wiring cable is strung. It is possible the cables were wrapped the wrong direction and need to be disconnected to figure out best direction for seat swing then reattached so as to allow that direction of swing.

At first, I thought this was kind of an undue complaint. However, when the seat spins CCW on a gasser, it allows the passenger to spin the seat toward the rear and then step out without having to crawl over the doghouse.
You don't say where it's hitting or how close to clearing it is. Have all positions been exhausted, including raising the seat as high as it will go. Could a plate under the seat base give you the clearance needed?

OP has a BayStar and is talking about his passenger seat. In a BayStar the passenger seat is not powered nor does it adjust up or down.
I have a 2022 3626 BayStar and the passenger seat rotates both directions but it’s tight. The seat needs to be moved all the way forward, back tilted forward so obviously the armrests are up.
If yours rotates clockwise but not CCW that’s just the way it is and should not cause any worries.
Accept the fact that you can turn it clockwise and enjoy your coach.

I have never seen this. In our case DW is disabled. I turn the seat toward the living space, she gets into the seat, then swivels the seat towards the inboard side while slowly working her feet across the doghouse. Doghouse size and seat swiveling ability was a very important consideration both times we shopped. Some had doghouses that were way too big for our purposes but I never saw a seat that couldn't swivel inboards. Of course, I've probably only looked at 20 - 30 models out of the hundreds that exist.
Where is the interference? Or is there an actual stop on the seat that prevents it from turning inboards?
The 2023 BS 3811 is an ADA version. I wonder if they have any special consideration for cockpit seat access?

The foot rest hits the doghouse cover. I have tried multiple positions of the seat and the footrest, but it still hits. The base needs to be higher by approximately 1.5". Originally we couldn't rotate it clockwise because a bolt extended down blocking the base. The dealer's service manager cut the bolt so that at least we could rotate the seat clockwise.
For some it may not be a big deal, but why shouldn't it work properly when the coach was delivered.
