Patio Canopies?

In summer camping I’m noticing a lot of campers put up canopies in their patio area. Not sure if this is more of a 5th wheel/TT thing. Seems nice other than something else to worry about in winds and storms. Any of you Class A folk here also put up canopies?

Hello, We use to carry one to the FL Keys for many years. We did that in lieu of other shelter. Most of the sites along the water at the campground we stay it have tiki huts on them. One site did not so we used our canopy for that.

With that 30' Stacker trailer you will be pulling, you should have plenty of room for them.

I have a 10' x 10' canopy that I use it when I have a chance. On my last trip it worked great over the picnic table when it started to rain while I was smoking something on my smoker.

We used a 10'x10' last winter during our stay in SW Florida. Gone on a motorcycle ride and unexpected wind gust trashed it.

This spring a buddy help me weld up an umbrella stand. We made it out of .25 steel stock about 1.25" wide. It has four "legs" that go out to brace a center pole. The whole thing comes apart in about a minute and doesn't take up hardly any storage. We have a 10' round umbrella in it that tilts.

What we like about this one is we can simply crank it down and tie it when the wind kicks up, plus it takes less storage space.

I have one at our summer lot. Use it for bug free dinners and outdoor game night. Fits in a canvas bag, 5”x5”x4’ . Coleman , I think.

There are 2 good reasons to do that. I use them out in the desert where the wind can get ferocious suddenly. 1-If they are properly tied down they can take more wind that an awning so you don't have to be taking them down every time it gets windy. 2- if they do get wrecked they are cheaper to replace.

Best to stake them down with whatever is appropriate. 12" gutter spikes in The Keys cap-rock. 18" lengths of rebar when on the Black Rock Desert.

In Florida and SE states the summer's big bugs are the canopies.

We always carry at least one canopy, we use them over the picnic tables most of the time, they work great for creating some shade and they don't take up that much room. This particular one is 12' x 12'.

I did some shopping around and ironically ended up choosing one that happens to be setup right out my front window at my current CG. I like the screened in version as I'm not a fan of bugs as I am soon to get a holster for my electric fly swatter. Look out for quick draw McZapper!

12 x 10

Now we'll see if I ever use it.

Ours is actually a Woods brand. 11*11. Fits a picnic table nicely with a little extra room.
Great for dining and Mexican Train into the wee hours.

We use a 10X10 that goes over the picnic table. I have had one blow away and get bent up, so now I use a length of rope tied around the center bars and then tied to the table.
The wind will have to take the table with the awning next time!
It also has screens if there are mosquitos or hornets bothering us.
Happy Glamping.

That will come in handy when you go to Alaska next summer (mosquitoes), but won’t do much for bear protection unless you reinforce it.
