Patio Mat

Small thing, but has anyone found a good patio mat that doesn't keep its fold creases for ever, they just seem to be such a trip hazard unless you drive some kind of stakes in the corners and stretch it tight. All the ones I've seen fold up for storage and then never really fold out flat, just wondering if there's something better out there?

We roll ours up instead of folding. The lightweight ones that fold are useless. ( and you are right, they are a fall waiting to happen ) Heavier ones work better but are kind of a pain when storing. No happy medium I guess.

We had one of those folding nylon mats and I got tired of dealing with it. We rarely ever use it, so I gave it away. Over the last three weeks we did a trip through the Utah National Parks. Every campsite was dry and dirty. Our friends have been carrying the same small piece of artificial turf (8' x 10') for 20 plus years. We pulled it out at two different campsites. It worked great for keeping the dirt down. You can either roll it or fold it into a pretty small size. You can easily shake it out and if it gets wet and nasty, just bag it and clean it later at home.

Keep it rolled up.
I put hooks inside the top of the wall slide out bay, and take a wide bungee strap around it to let it hang. It takes up no floor space that wa and I can fit the BBQ and golf clubs under it on the bay floor.

I like the folds memory. Makes decamping quicker.

We have used the same mat for many years. I think it was called Patty O’Matt or something like that. It wears really well, and the fold lines are barely visible. Those lines are a good guide for packing it up.
