PDM Recall Completed

Finally had my PDM replaced under the recall. I thought I would share some interesting observations.
Prior to the replacement for the past 24 months I was having problems with the air tank gauges. Readings would drop on both tanks to approximately 105psi while driving on the interstate. Sometimes it would drop below 100 with no alarm. Had the issue looked at twice and no leaks anywhere. Black and grey tank sensors constantly reading high when tank had just been emptied. Constantly using the salesman switch to reset.
Well what do you know! They replace the PDM and the air tanks hang right at 115psi and held steady for the 50 mile trip back to our lot. Black and grey tanks both read correctly too. And the chassis ac was colder and the fan blew harder. The PDM supplies dc power to more than is commonly referenced.

Can you elaborate more about the recall... years, models affected...
My 2013 VTDP is on Freighliner chassis.

It doesn't go back that far, if I recall 2017 or 2018 and newer.

The original recall was 2019 / 2020 and then they added in 2018 models. You can go the NTSB website and plug in your VIN# and see if there are any open recalls for your vehicle.

The first PDM recall (18v-582, dtna) called for 2016-2019 chassis
The second PDM recall (20v-404, dtna) calls for chassis production dates of nov 2015 thru jun 2019.

If you look at the Newmar versions of the same recalls (19v-xxx, 20v-421) you'd get slightly different info, as they'd be directed only at newmar freightliner chassis v dtna/fccc recalls which covers all their chassis product lines.

Power Distribution Module. Normally located next to the chassis batteries. Mine was changed at a Freightliner dealer while waiting for a new DEF head whose sensors went bad (unrelated to the PDM).

I added extra clearance lights to each side on the turn signal circuit so now I have four total flashing on the side when Im changing lanes. Hasnt done much for other driverís manners, but at least I know they are working.
