Power Antenna Tidbit

We're currently on a trip to Yellowstone. Yesterday, while driving, I noticed a warning light on the dash. It's yellow and "T" shaped. I know what most of the lights mean, but never saw this one before. We stopped at a Rest Stop and I pulled out the Freightliner manual and looked at all of the light Icons. There were no "T" shaped ones. I put in a call to Freightliner and while waiting, I kept looking at the light......darn if it doesn't look like an antenna. That's when it dawned on me to look at the power antenna control near the passenger seat. Sure enough, the buttons were lit up. I went outside and the antenna was up.

Freightliner, in their manual, makes no reference to an antenna idiot light. The light is just above the ABS light. The reason I posted, is that the controls, at least on the 4018, are just below the passenger seat belt mount. It's very easy to hit the power button and then another hit and the antenna will raise. I'm looking for the fuse since we never use that antenna, but haven't found it yet. When I get home, I may just make a cover plate that will require you to reach behind it to turn the antenna on.

Don,

Thanks for the tip. Don't know if our Ventana will have a power antenna or not. If I see the icon on the dash, I will at least know what it is.

Travel safely!

Nice find Don! My 08 Essex just reads out "antenna up" on the display as a very famous man once said "A word is worth a thousand icons!"

That light, and the antenna is senses. are body builder devices. Thus the chassis manual will not mention them

The are appliance devices.. Thus the body manual will not mention them

The ANTENNA manual.. That's where you should find them.
