Problems switching from genset to shore

my 2006 newmar dutch star ive been running the genset a lot and wanted to give it a break. I purchased a Honda eu3000is generator to use as shore power.
I purchased a 30 amp twist that goes into the Honda and plugged a 30 amp to 50 amp cord to connect it to the motorhome.
in house I switched it to 30amp shore and wallah...no power inside the unit.

there is a small box next to the transfer box that does have codes displaying.
wondering what I can do to use the Honda generator??

Have you checked the breaker on the Honda Genset? Also disconnect it from the coach & measure the voltage output with a meter. is your Honda Genset set on 120V or 240V? Switch over your setting on your coach to 15amp or 20 amp. When you connect the Honda Genset - listen for a click in your transfer switch indicating it has switched to shore power.

Happy Trails

In your shore power cabinet you have a automatic transfer box that switches between shore power and GEN. power. This is automatically done and if you have both power sources on at the same time it goes with Gen. power. It's like to me you either have a problem with this automatic transfer switch or a problem with your adapters you are using.

Ems box? If so, could be a ground fault error and the ems is blocking the power. There are options, but you should check with the manufacturer of the ems for suggestions.

Make sure generator is grounded to coach if it has an EMS.

An EMS checks for low and high voltage, reversed polarity, bad grounds.
That is the quick answer. They are a very good thing to have on a coach!

Odds are it is a progressive industries ems. Check their web site (even of a different brand) for excellent information, including error codes and the portable gen grounding issue.
