Propane Hydronic in 2010 Dutch Star

Looking at 2010 Dutch Star with Propane Hydronic, if you have experience with this system could you comment pro and con.

I believe this is the unit the coach will have,
If you do a search of this forum not to many problems with them.
They run cleaner than the diesel.

Personally I wouldn't have an RV with the propane hydronic unit. I have nothing against propane like some people have the unreasonable fear of, just don't like it for the hydronic unit. I'd only take the diesel ones

if you asked me 2 years a go i would tell you not to buy it. I have done alot of work to the unit myself like adding a switch to the inside to turn the unit on and off. If you have the engine assist for heating while driving I would put a ball valve in to shut that off when parked for dry camping. Make sure that the unit has been updated with a new blower motor and tank switch. These units run unbelievable after you get them working right. They dont smell and they are way quiter than a deisel. When in summer mode they are virtually instant hot water. After having it now i dont think i would go with a diesel unit

could you tell me more about the new blower motor and tank switch serial numbers?
Is the one electric element sufficent to heat the water and the coach when on shore power?
What type of switch did you use inside the coach for on off operation and where is it located?
The ball valve sounds important to avoid heating the engine coolant while parked.
Is there enough heat from the engine to heat the unit while driving in cooler weather. I thought I read somewhere that the unit operates at 195 F and the engine at 175F therefore the unit would have to operate to heat the coolant 20F. Is there a way to have the unit operate and circulate at 175 so as not to have to consume propane while driving?

I think the suggestions are very interesting...

I have one of those systems that heats the water heater from engine coolant circulation. When on the road, I turn the water heater off because that system makes the water plenty hot. My engine also seems to provide enough coach heat that I don't need to run the furnace when going down the road either. I think N10's updates probably offer those as options for how you decide to configure this kind of set up.

That sounds like something that any hydro heating system might benefit from. Is that correct?

Thanks to Newmar10 for personal insite into proper functioning of Propane Hydronic. After some degree of frustration he has come up with some very specific changes to the system that have worked out well.
