Propane Tank Valve Recall - Inspection Procedure?

15-months of ownership and now 5-recalls. Ugh.

Does anyone know the inspection procedure for the "incorrect female POL thread depth" on the RegO Service Valve? Per the attached pic, I do not see anything bottomed out. However, is the lack of "raised" thread on the male ends normal? Is that what they are talking about? Or do you need to take this apart to ensure there is enough thread in the female portion?

I am going to have this and 2 other Newmar recalls done next dealer visit, but that may be a ways out...I confirmed the torque on the steering bolts and checked the under-seat wiring myself - both of those are good. This one worries me for sure.

Thanks.

Unfortunately the Recall doesn't give specifics about the actual defect just Production Dates/Number of RVs affected

I have had 5 recall issues in 8 months! I know how you feel.
Here is the recall letter that came today. The remedy is to replace it if. “Suspected”. Who pays for the lost propane?

Also pic of my propane service valve. Looks the same.

Thanks. I received same letter today as well. Any chance you can get a better picture of the part I circled? Your threads definitely look better than mine.

Yes, Iíll get a better picture this weekend. I asked the dealer if I could get a licensed (but non Newmar) propane tech closer to do it. Dealer bumped it to Newmar, waiting to hear back. Also donít want to waste the nearly full tank if possible.

Appreciate it. Hopefully Newmar approves that. I asked if a mobile tech could clear my steering bolt and under-seat wiring recalls, but they said only a Newmar dealer could. Makes sense, due to liability. Although my mobile tech is authorized to do Newmar warranty work.

Perfect. The larger diameter section looks the same as mine - almost like the threads are stripped off. However, the smaller/lower section appears to have normal threads compared to mine.

Note the recall specifies the female threads on the valve (hidden) not the male threads of the mating POL fitting (visible).

My valve looks exactly like your photo. I leak tested the brass fitting screwed into the valve and the corresponding brass fitting toward the gray plastic housing where the regulator is located. Also, just for completeness I leak tested the male thread where the valve is screwed into the LP tank with blue pipe dope. Used dish soap and a paint brush. No leaks! Shut off the valve until this recall can be performed.

I called Newmar customer service at the number on the recall notice. They sent me an email informing me of the pictures they needed. I had to take pictures of the valve so they can review the stamped numbers on the flats. I emailed the pictures to them. They informed me no action was needed on my part and they would remove the recall from my coach.
