Propane will not shut off

I have a 2003 DS and I can not shut off the propane. I'm hoping I'm missing something simple. I turned the shutoff valve all the way in the clockwise position (checked and double checked) turned on the hot water heater, frig (to lp), and the stove top for 20 or so minutes and did not show a sign of propane depleting out of the lines. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would not mess with a propane issue. Take it to a good RV repair shop and let them track down the problem.

It seems like it turned off. I think you are saying that no gas is coming out of the lines ("depleting out of the lines").

Are you trying to turn it on instead? Turn the handle to the left and see if the appliances light. Then turn it to the right and try again.

Sounds to me like you have a faulty propane valve. Time for professional help. Propane is nothing to mess with!

I have not but the direction on the knob does say to turn it clockwise.

Here's a situation that happens : Someone tries to turn off the valve and really cinches down hard. This will distort the seat, which is soft metal ( brass ). Now it will not ever seal properly. Solution is to replace the valve. Of course the tank must be emptied, safely.

When turning off propane valves a gentle snug twist is all that should be needed.

I would think a distorted seat would allow some gas to flow by, but the OP is running the water heater and drive top. That's a lot of gas flow.

If your propane detector has an 'off' switch try turning that off.
On my previous RV the detector had an off switch, but turning off the detector also turned off the gas.
Note that the valve that was being closed on mine was after the valve that you are working with. So while the propane would be off in the RV you still couldn't replace your (apparently) faulty valve by turning it off this way.
