Purchased a Canyon Star 3710, Question

We just purchased a Canyon Star 3710 while in Dallas, will pick up the new coach in Atlanta when we head back home in another week or so.

My questions:
Any specific tire pressure as a good starting point?
Have you added a steering stabilizer to your coach?
Thoughts on extended warranties (I don't buy them but all the motors, slides, etc. it has me thinking)
Anyone carry a air compressor? Which psi rating works well (125, 150, 200)?

Thx!!!
Steve

Congratulations! I have a 2016 CS, Safe T Plus steering Stabilizer, CHF rear plus read my signature. You should get it weighted and follow tire manufacture chart for PSI. However I can tell you that I run mine at 85 F&R not super loaded and could have went closer to 75 by chart.
Look up this tread, the mod for outside entertainment is free, also read my last post in tread. http://www.irv2.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3416560

Sorry on EX warranty, I found them very costly and did not purchase one, Ford chassis warranty is 3/36 and 5/50 on powertrain. Newmar is 1year and I think 5 years structural. Then components have their own warranties I.E. fridge, TV's etc

You did not say if you bought new or used. If new, skip the extended warranty. If used, might be worth considering. Warranties are restricted to the original owners and typically do not transfer.

We opted for an extended warranty when we bought ours. We were going to buy a CS, but I just was not comfortable driving that additional 2' in length, so we got its baby sister (Bay Star).

I purchased my 2017 CS3710 in November. I had the BlueOx Truecenter installed and so far it has performed well. I also installed the 5 Star tune and it works well. Lots of threads on that topic. Since it was new, I did not get an extended warranty, I thought it was a waste of money. I'll look at it after the manufacturer's warranty expires. Based upon the weights, I'm at 90 PSI and using TST 507 TPMS. Coach is in the dealership getting slide adjusted and some other minor issues. I'm considering Stuart W's sway bar setup. I just don't want to spend my traveling money before the season! I haven't had much opportunity to run it yet, but plan to.

Congratulations on your new motor home, safe travels and many great memories ahead!

We have a 2017 Canyon Star model 3953.

I have added Sumo Maxims front and rear for a very bad roll when loaded. Works as designed and made the ride very comfortable.

I installed 5 Star Tune to stop the downshift at the slightest sign of a "Overpass" or hill. I am pleased with the 5 Star.

We did buy an extended warranty when we purchased the motor home through the dealer - - it was affordable, cheaper than quotes I reviewed from other national companies. I am glad I did as our front AC went out almost immediately and was replaced by Newmar of course. But, after one year, I'd have to replace it myself - - although I do not know how long the Dometic warranty is on the AC. You just never know.

The motor home drives well, I had Blue Ox Tru-Center on my old DP and do not need it on my Canyon Star.

The one thing I will do in the far off future is replace the "shocks". In Indiana, we have some very bad roads. I will research Konis.

I do carry a portable Kobalt air compressor rated I believe at 150psi.

You have purchased a great motor home from a great company...all the best.

Thx for the replies, always good info!

We will be picking up our new coach on March 1st. So excited, I know it's about a dozen steps above what we have now.

We have a 2015 CS3953, no mods and with the exception of wanting to try 5-Star tuning, we have put on 15000 wonderful miles in less than 2 years. Only reason we are thinking 5-Star is transmission confusion somewhere around 55MPH going up grade.

We carry this air compressor and have been very happy with the purchase:
Viair 40047 400P-RV Automatic Portable Compressor Kit, got it from Amazon.

As far as other fixes, the unit rides well enough and I might add Safe T Steer in the future and replace with the better Bilstein shocks.

I recommend loading your coach out then getting it weighed, hopefully, while still at the dealer. Then set tire pressures accordingly. I know from experience that running them with excess pressure (based on actual weight requirements) results in a needlessly rough ride. I have not seen any need for additional steering stabilizers or other handling mods, beyond accurately setting tire pressure.

I understand the concern regarding an extended warranty. There are lots of bells and whistles on these units but as has been stated, chassis and coach warranties cover you plus the components have warranties too. Probably could go without until those start to expire, your call.

I bought an oil less, tank less, 150 psi air compressor from Harbor Freight to carry just to top off tires for the RV and bikes. Have not needed it, yet, during our first year of owning this unit. It is small, light and really just serves as a convenience piece of mind.

Best wishes on your new unit. We love ours.
