There are not too many quality places to eat at Quartzsite. There are a few fast food places. So.......bring food with you.

Thanks Don!
I hate taxes for solutions, but that's another conversation !!!
Anyways, we'll bring lots of food. I can live on Atkins bars and Balance breaks and yogurt. We've never boondocked as loing as we plan this time so my biggest concern is for dealing with mail, water, and tanks. I heard you can get services to dump and fill tanks. If true do you\anybody no any contact info.

Interesting concept of a seasonal tax increase. What are the dates when this starts and stops? Thank you.

Need route info\opinions:
I am heading i40 west in the near future toward Q. Last year on our 1st trip west we made it to Glendale and stayed a few days for th football game. We came down I17 to the 101 which was pretty easy. Looking to see if a different route would be OK for driving a 40fter with toad.
What do y'all think about hitting 95 and coming down to Q from I40? Is that a good route for a different view?
Thanks!

95 from l40 is a good route, just don't be in too big a hurry. You can go down the East side of Lake Havasu City, AZ or the West side, CA. Both are good routes and offer great scenery. Stock up in Blythe, CA.
Cheers

The word seasonal is probably appropriate for the tax increase. The reason for the tax increase is the number of people that show up. Quartzsite has a normal population of just under 4000 people (2018). During snowbird season, it goes to over 200K. Trying to adjust fire, police and ambulance services is where the taxes come into play and are needed.

Not following the rational. If 4K pay x in taxes to support those services other times of the year, wouldn’t 200k be paying 50 times more in taxes. (An equivalent increase in taxes per person). But the question was what are the dates of the tax increase? I can’t find this reflected on sales tax handbook.com. That site shows quartzite combined sales tax to be 10.1% every month since 2015.

I believe...not sure, that residents pay a lesser tax, with proof of address.

Whew! Finally made it to Q after 7 days on road, stuck 2 days in ABQ hoping to get windshield fixed, but when they looked at it Monday told me they couldn't fix it. Glad I had gorilla tape, used it to tape windshield keeping it from falling out. Now sitting at Rice Ranch for a few days waiting to get it fixed finally then heading out to BLMs somewhere. After NKK rally and RV show.... Jeep trails ll over, holy jeeping!!!!

If you've been there in prior years, what does the crowd look like this year.

I drove by on I10 in early December. I could see lots of RVs parked all around in the BLM areas.

There's quite a few folks at the BLMs near the show site, but down the road and around town pretty empty. It was easy for us to find a parking spot just after lunch near the show entrance so we could go thru thru vendor sites.
In Rice Ranch there maybe 4-5 motorhomes thaat look to be here for the show. Its about 90% empty. Laposa South was the most crowded but PLENTY of spaces to stay and have privacy. Road Runner was almost empty. I seen about a dozen total.
PS - this is my 1st time here, so take my thoughts with a grain of salt....
plus good news is I am getting 5g phone service which I think is pretty nice.
