Queen or King for Resale Value
Hoping to find a 2024-2025 New Aire in next few months. I'd really like our next MH to have a half bath (thus the 3547 model) but that model has a queen versus king bed. DW and I can live with that but would that turn off a lot of people down the road on a resale? Appreciate any input from 3547 owners too. Thx.

I would get what works for you and worry about resale later. In my case, DW and I can’t sleep on a queen bed, so that limits what RVs we look at. A lot of other people are fine with a queen bed.
What turned us off to the New Aire was the fact that there are zero opening windows! That was a deal breaker for us.

Yes it would, in my opinion.
But on the other hand, everything generally is split about 50/50, so get what you want.

A queen bed probably doesn’t matter that much to younger couples. Most older couples prefer king beds. As you get older you need more room to spread out. Yes, a coach with a king bed will sell a lot faster than one with a queen bed. Though as others have said get what you want and worry about the future sale of it if and when it happens.

Personally, I’d go with the queen. Wife and I have slept on a king bed for many years at the house but an RV, even a big one like you’re looking at, is pretty small and a queen just fits better. For us it’s not a big deal. Perhaps for some folks it is and if so, and you’re full time then go with what works. The resale issue could go either way and likely won’t make a huge difference whichever way it happens to go for you.

Just for fun I was building a similar model just a couple nights ago. I leaned over and showed the DW two floor plans. One had the bath and a half with a queen bed, and the other had a king bed, but no half bath. I asked which she would prefer, and after about 10 seconds she said she'd take the extra bathroom. I agreed, especially after laying a tape measure down and realizing that 10" of bed width isn't that much. If we both got a mere 2" closer to each side of the mattress, then there would only be about a hand with of lost space between us.

We have had queens for 30 years and while it was tight we put up with it. When we got into our first DP with a King it was a game changer. The only draw back is the space between the bed and the sides. It's very small, making it difficult to change the sheets. My second coach's bed slides out making it easier to change the sheets

I think it all depends on floorplan. I have a 2023 New Aire 3543 with an RV King bed and opening windows (an option when ordered/built). I did upgrade the bed to an Innomax (similar to Sleep Number since they don't make RV sizes anymore). Like already posted, when it comes to beds and their sizes, go by what you'll enjoy most since X years down the road the resale impact would be negligible IMHO.
Best,
-Mark

I'd gladly give up my king bed in a heartbeat in order to have a decent-sized nightstand, one where I could place the following: phone, glass of water, paperback, eye glasses. As it is, I hardly have room for a phone.

We have always had a king @ home, why not we have the space. Our first two coach's had queens & our current DS is the first king we have had in a motorhome. I sleep great in either but if I was buying a smallish (35') coach I would absolutely go queen. A king is a lot of wasted real estate especially in a small coach. Please don't bring up resale buying a motorhome is perhaps the most unwise financial decision ever made. It's a WANT not a NEED so buy what you WANT.

Had a queen in our 1st MH (12 yrs.), king in our current (8yrs). Queen at home. Both in our two MHs were in dedicated slides, so any space related considerations were irrelevant. Personally, I think the king size is overrated, and any impact on future sale potential is a nit at most.. You do want mattress quality over anything else. That you can promote.

I would get what works for you. But now saying that and 30 some years of owning campers's like PU's, TT's, and MH's. I have always sold the campers myself. My king size bed units, I never had a caller say they wished it was a queen. My queen size units, I would hear it several times for each queen unit I sold. But in either case my units sold in less than 45 days.
I would say I lost several potential buyers including the buyers that read the listing and never called
Price and condition seem to be the main factor. If the queen units had kings I sure I could have gotten more bucks.

I wish it was that simple for us. When you add the half bath I believe you also shrink the following on the 3547...pantry, shower and most importantly the wardrobe in the back.
