Question for Comfort Drive owners

As we start the new year, I need something to think about. Do any of you have a suggestion or a wish list of how I can improve the Comfort Drive? I know that some people want a retrofit to older coaches but that is a Newmar/Spartan/FCCC decision, not mine.

The last "complaint" I had caused the driver-coltrollable efforts that I think is a big success.

If you have something you would rather not post but still want to talk about, feel free to PM me, because I really am interested in hearing what you have to say.

Thanks.
Ken

Well, Ken,

I guess you did such a good job that no one thinks it can be improved. I certainly love ours. I keep it at about 3 1/2 to 4 most of the time. I have a buddy who keeps his at 2. Each to his own.

I know that when I take our coach in for service the techs always comment on how easy newer model Newmars are to handle and maneuver.

We all thank you so much. If I think of something else I will ask.

Don

How nice to hear from you again Ken!

I am not aware of the driver controllable feature you refer to. Since our MA is a 2007 we have the first generation Comfort Drive.

I remain your biggest advocate. there is Nothing like Comfort Drive!

We had the first generation on our 08 Essex. Now the adjustable on the 11 King Aire. Can't say enough good things about both. When we got the KA I had somewhat of a problem getting used to the adjustable control. I wound up with it at about 2 1/2. Love the wind correction and the centering when backing up.

Shouldn't retro fitting be the Vehicle Owners decicion?? NOT someone else?

I am going to assume this is a air ride suspension with 4 pressrue settings? Why not use two adjustable air pressure regulators one each for Front/Rear and then it is ifinitely adjustable.

1. If an owner wanted to retrofit a system, I suppose they could buy all the parts, do the integration, design and make a shroud that fits it, and do the test work to make sure it works properly.

2.Comfort Drive is a steering enhancement, not a suspension enhancement.

I have had both adjustable and non-adjustable Comfort drive and would not have another MH without it. I use the zero setting on the adjustable.

Mekanic this link will explain Comfort Drive.
When you move up to a Newmar it will come on the Spartan chassis and on the Freightliner chassis for Newmar.

I had the opportunity to test drive a 2013 MA with the comfort drive system for a few miles and was impressed. It was easy to handle in & out of traffic. The was no significant wind at the time so I did not mess with adjusting the bias. I equate the comfort dirve system to trimming out an airplane while climbing or in level flight.

Ken,

Were you involved in the Newell adapation of comfort steer and if you were can you shed some insite on how it compares to Newmar's use?

It is the same hardware, software, and settings so they work the same. Newell just used heavier/lighter buttons to change efforts rather than a knob like Newmar.
