Question for King Aire owners

I posted this on the Foretravel owners group - my question to King Aire owners who are you purchasing insurance thru ? Looks like progressive caps out at 1M -

Funny just got a quote from Overland in AZ - we are picking up our 24 Presidential in July - the quote was thru Progressive capped at 1M ? We need a bit more than that to cover or investment- also interesting they are the referred agent on the Newell web-site. Not sure but will call them tomorrow to see if they can g higher on the cap. Reasonable price for the 1M though so hopefully to stretch it won’t be a crazy amount above premium quoted. Any thoughts or suggestions here ? How does someone cover a 2.5M Newell or Marathon?

I thought I read on a Newell site a while back about a person getting more than 1 policy to cover the multi million dollar rigs. I had never heard of that but another post chimed in and said it is common.

We had Progressive on our Essex and when we purchased new the LA we called Progressive and they stated because the value was to high they couldn't write a policy. We had worked with Destination Services on numerous other and items they were able to get us Progressive Insurance as a agent. Their number is 406-721-2562. Great to work with and would suggest have them assist you with Progressive.

Thanks Tom - I’ve got that handled with the folks at Overland Insurance thru Progressive capped at 1M for a reasonable premium - after my research Insurance Companies are no longer insuring past the 1M mark - this is going to sting manufacturers like King Aire, Newell, Prevost etc… unless these buyers are prepared to be self insured. It’s possible to get some crazy customized insurance policy with a ton of stipulation’s and 20k plus a year premiums if you dig hard enough. I was told the sales reps for these Coach’s are real concerned about this issue which is fairly new and not changing anytime soon.

Question for King Aire owners

Just like my Uncle whom lives in Sarasota, insurance was high and after Ian it went crazy high. He only has liability and so he takes the risks.

But many people without insurance or under insured were qualified for a 1.48% federal loan, to rebuild after Hurricane Ian…

This is who I use for Progressive. I dropped my coverage to $1m this year and Progressive wrote it for around $4000.00. I had been with Safeco the prior year when bus was new for $1.3m and it went from about $11000 the first year (dec 2021 to dec 2022) and for 2023 they wanted close to $15000. if I remember right. I figured the bus lost some value after a year and I was willing to eat the difference if I had a total loss.

On my Prevost's (3), I had used National Interstate with very decent pricing, but they exited the market a few years ago and all that was left was basically Safeco for over a million coverage. I paid it for the last Prevost, and the first year of the King Aire, but this year I made the change to Progressive. I had used Progressive with the Renegade because it was less than a million to start with.

Melissa at Thum is very good and will get you what you need either way you go..over a million or under.

Thanks for confirming- this is exactly what I have learned in the past week. I’m going the same route. Folks buying a Coach and paying more than 1M should know this info prior to commitment. Especially a Newell or Prevost. Some people no matter how much money they have are not comfortable being self insured or paying 30k per year for custom coverage.
