Rear Lights near camera

I've had my DSDP for a couple years now and still can't seem to figure out how the rear lights near the backup camera work.
Anyone?

On my '98 it's the 2-lights at the rearend/top, right next to rear camera, side lights I figured out after a week or so of ownership.

Rick your lights will operate when you place in rear drive, like my 98 did.
Never had any more use for them accept when backing up.
It maybe possible to find wiring to put in switch so you could use them otherwise though. Have you found where your spare tire goes? There is a pull lever in rear compartment so rear bumper pulls out.
Skip that you have a DP.
Congrats on your DP.
