Rear rock guard under coach

Anyone replace rear rock guard under rear of coach? If so, how much is it to get a new one?

Just replaced ours. It hit a traffic pylon that a truck ran over and threw out in front of us in a construction zone... Sure does bend/break it! Purchased the replacement from Newmar, we purchased several items, but I think it was in the $430.00 range delivered. I did reuse the hangars off of the old rock guard.

Here's some food for thought.

Why not try going without the so called rock guard for a while and see how it goes? You may find your toad will suffer less stone chips and stay cleaner.

I removed mine at an RV Park in Whitehorse, YK after fighting with stones covering my toad everyday on our way to Alaska. Prior to departing, I had raised the flap from 4" clearance to 6" clearance on the advice of our caravan organizer to prevent the flap from dragging on the ground going through some of the dips in the highway.
Turns out that even at 6" the flap was still causing small stones to be tossed up and covering my toad.
In Whitehorse our Wagon Master suggested removing the flap altogether. So on his advice, I made arrangements with the park owner to leave it and pick it up on our return.
Lo and behold, there were no more stones and the toad seemed to not accumulate dust and mud as it did with the flap.
When we returned to Whitehorse, I told the RV park operator he could just dispose of the flap as I was now convinced it was doing more harm than good.
That was three years ago and I have not regretted its removal. In fact, I used to use a Guardian Rock Guard and a custom windshield cover which I have not used in over 15,000 miles and I have zero stone chips to the toad.
Others I have talked to along the way have gone the same route and are very happy with the results.
Worth a try. You might save some money.

Removed mine after reading about it causing more damage than good. So far the toad has stayed cleaner and I haven't found rocks laying at the base of the windshield.

Ours was cleaned and hung in the garage.

My toad stays cleaner, and I don't have to worry about it getting hung up on curbs and in the ground when levelling.

Much better!

In my opinion the word "Newmar" is on my coach with 2 other stickers - enough advertising.
And it has nothing to do with airflow or cooling - all bunk.


Its all personal taste as the guards can look nice when they are all polished up, on the other hand we like the cleaner lines of not having it hanging underneath.

I got tired of having to run out of my motorhome every time I leveled when the rear was higher than the front the flap would get crushed. I finally removed it and am much happier without it.

After being towed behind the coach, our toad would smell bad when the engine ran for days and days. I had assumed it was dirt getting into the engine compartment and then burning off once the engine ran. I'm certain now that was correct. A couple of months ago, the coach ran over a dead deer in the road which we didn't see in time to avoid. It damaged the logo mud flap in such a way that it was dragging on the ground and so we removed it. Ever since then, we've noticed no odor from the toad after being towed!
I think our experience is evidence that the logo mudflap was actually kicking up more dirt. I liked the look of it, but will not replace it.

The previous owner removed the Newmar name plate from mine and replaced it with diamond plate. I'm not crazy about it, but it works OK for me. I priced a new one a couple of years ago and was quoted 800.00 from Newmar. I chose not to buy it. I like the look, but not that much. I removed mine last winter while in FL and couldn't stand the look. I put it back on. I think my coach looks weird without one.
