Rear view monitor or camera?

I am having an issue, can't determine of it is the rear camera or dash monitor. It will flicker light to darker with horizontal lines at times. At first i thought it was just the way the sunlight was hitting the rear camera, but I now know that is not the case.At times it will be fine, other times flicker, sometimes going almost dark. I have been paying attention to if it happens around bumps in the road and determined that makes no difference. I thought I had it nailed down to the rear camera because when I put the turn signals on the monitor picture looks fine, then back to rear view and would give a faint picture and flicker again. But today, I was backing it into storage and I heard a buzzing sound from the dash, thought it was the generator as I just had service on it, but it was the monitor. Turn off the dash monitor no sound, turn the monitor back on, buzzing sound returns. I'm stumped now. Anyone have similar issues?

Monitors are way more prone to failure than cameras. I had a voyager this summer, I was trying to change some settings wit the buttons on the front and somehow it stuck in the left camera position. No matter what I did it it stayed there. New monitor took care of it.
