Recall Announced

All - this might have been referenced in another post. Here it is again, not a large number of units affected, but still can be issue. It was discussed on the technology forum as well, and I sent that link to my Customer Support Rep at Newmar. We are all in this together, regardless of brand or type or RV.

So you donít have to click the link this is about the WiFi Ranger power supply overheating and being a fire hazard. I recommend against WiFi Ranger products as they are obsolete and not worth the money.

But, that's what Newmar has decided to install so I guess that's what we got. I checked mine and it's not even warm. I never use it so I guess I should just disconnect it. Going to the factory in June so I'll just let them deal with it then.

Neal C - For how I will use it, it should work fine. Being connected is not high on my list of things I need to do. We hike/walk, watch tv, occasionally drink beer, find nice restaurants, and putter around. Maybe once a day, I will check e-mail, and do other things on the PC. I wanted to have NO PROJECTS on this MH, so ordered everything I think I need or want installed at factory, so I don't have to do it. Washing and cleaning will be all I want to do, other than the little fixes which will pop up.

No projects!!????!!! Why buy a $400k motorhome if it comes exactly the way you want it? I thought we were buying with the understanding that it is "some assembly required"

Enough projects in the old one, still got the scars to prove it.

I do urge anyone with the WiFi Ranger to take this recall seriously if your unit is one of those affected. Ours is in the affected group, and the power supply previously failed early in warranty, and the our selling dealer replaced it. The symptom in my situation was repetitive clicking from the automatic reset circuit breaker that fed that circuit.

What I didn't know until today: there's a small charred spot in the back of the cabinet where the power supply is mounted. The dealer didn't tell me the faulty power supply nearly set the coach on fire.

Newmar should perhaps also reconsider the use of automatic reset circuit breakers for peripheral circuits.

I've never been a fan of auto reset breakers. If they trip you need to fix the problem. Only exception would be for critical safety components like headlights and such.
