Was wondering if people had recommendations for dash cameras for our RV. Seems like it would be good to have a recording. thanks

I've been using my GoPro hero camera for years and it has exceeded my expectations. Displays an HD video that can be viewed on a PC or TV. I use it in my toad when not in the coach and on my 4 wheeler when in the woods. There are certainly cheaper alternatives available but I think you get what you pay for in this situation.

Been using one of these for about a year... Seems to work, but I haven't run the video back, except to initially test it.

Only problem I've had is that the suction cup has come off the window a couple of times. Now that is in my "departure checklist."

Don't leave home without it. I've installed dash cams in all my vehicles. I like this one: Black Box B40 A118 Stealth Dash Cam. I wire it into the ACC so anytime the ignition is on, they record. I recommend staying away from the ones with internal batteries, get the super capacitor. The battery doesn't do well in heat. The super capacitor will power the camera for 10-15 seconds after the external power is removed. When power is removed, the camera automatically closes and saves the current file.

Here's a link to my install:

Dash Cam – 1999 Southwind 35S

Here's a link to a video we captured on a recent trip. Watch carefully in the center medium as we round the curve. Turn your audio up.

NOTE - I compressed the video to keep the size down

Help me, please, to understand why I would need or want a dash cam.

Will you ever need it? Probably not. If you do need it and don't have it. Well, your screwed.

I install them as insurance . i.e. if I'm ever involved in an accident or incident, it can provide documentation .

My nephew was involved in an accident. The driver that ran the red light claimed my Nephew ran the red light. There were no other witnesses, His word against my nephews. Guess what happened after the cop seen the video.. :-)
