Red OAT antifreeze

My coach requires red OAT antifreeze. Just bought a gallon at o'reillys. 30.00. Thought that was way to high. Does anyone buy it for less and where do you get it. Thanks

I bought the concentrate from a local truck shop for something less than $20 a gallon.

I live in a very small town so I had no option today but I will be on the lookout when I stop for fuel at the truck stops. Thanks.

Sorry, I did not see what year you had. The newer engines use the Final Charge.

Coolants are tricky. Cummins provides a spec but they deliver the engine to the chassis builder dry. The chassis builder (Freightliner or Spartan) supplies the cooling system complete with coolant. You should call the chassis builder with your chassis ID to get a definitive answer if you are looking for what it left the factory with.

Correction. Final Charge is OAT.

OAT is an acronym for Organic Acid (Additive) Technology which describes the type of materials responsible for the corrosion protection offered by a coolant of this type. OATs are Long Life Coolants (LLC), based on minimally depleting Carboxylate Technology. This technology provides superior protection to all components of the cooling system including those exotic materials like aluminum and magnesium found in the modern day engine. Unlike Traditional Coolants the need for regular additions of Supplemental Coolant Additives (SCA’s) at scheduled service intervals is no longer required, providing a true Long Life product which can provide significant “cost savings”. In some heavy duty diesel applications you may see a reference to a Coolant Extender. A Coolant Extender can be used with an OAT coolant to top-up certain additives at the products half life which is typically around 480,000 kms. In general OAT based corrosion inhibitors are recognized for their non-toxic properties making them readily biodegradable, addressing any environmental and occupational health & safety issues.

Final Charge 50/50 Pre-diluted Global Extended Life Coolant is a 50/50 mix of Final Charge Global Extended Life Coolant and deionized water. It features a patented Organic Acid Technology (OAT) formula that delivers total cooling system protection for 600,000 miles of on road use (6 years of 12,000 hours or off highway use) without the use of Supplemental Coolant Additives (SCAs). The only maintenance required is the addition of Final Charge Extender at approximately 300,000 to 400,000 miles of on road use (3 years or 6,000 hours of off-highway use). When required, top-off the cooling system with Final Charge or Final Charge 50/50 Prediluted Global Extended Life Coolant/Antifreeze only.

Maybe it was Spartan I called instead of Cummings. After I gave the the Vin etc, they told me the red oat. I asked where to get it because I was unfamiliar with it and they said just about any auto parts house.

Red OAT antifreeze

I could have sworn Final Charge was a non organic acid technology. Thanks for the clarification.

Upon edit, according to Peak, the maker of Final Charge it comes in both OAT and NOAT versions. Guess we can all learn something everyday, I had no idea but the sticker on my 2016 said Use Final Charge NOAT only. The NOAT according to the website is a Nitrated Organic Acid Technology, who knew.
