Registering Appliances/Electronics for Warranties?

I finally got to registering everything I could for the warranties. I was not able to register the microwave being the model we have has been discontinued. The Whirlpool website would not take the model number. I did a search for it and found out it has been discontinued. Now what?

Another issue was for the Vizio tv's. The numbers on the sheet that Newmar had in the bag only had part of the serial number. I was able to use a mirror to ready it on the main TV, but the bedroom one will have to be removed.

You are not the original owner of any of these devices, Newmar is. That means all warranty has to go through Newmar. Even if the item would normally have a long warranty you are limited to the 1 year warranty that Newmar provides.

Warranties

Hello,
When we bought our new coach last November, wife snail mailed all the cards that came with the coach. The induction cook top increased the warranty from one to two years since she registered it. Had a problem with the Whirlpool clothes washer. The door lock switch worked some times. When I took it to the dealer for repair, the door locked as designed. So I called Whirlpool and told them the lock needed replaced. They no longer make the washing machine so the switch is not available. They offered to replace the machine with the new model. Trucking company JB Hunt delivered and installed the machine.
Mail in the card and if you have a problem, you may get the new model in exchange.

I filled out and mailed in all of the warranty cards I found in the giant bag of documents from Newmar when we brought our unit home. It was a pain to get some of the serial numbers, but I did it. I did it simply out from the mindset that it is one LESS reason the OEM has to not stand by their warranty.

I understand the concept mentioned earlier about "not being the original purchaser", but I have had that discussion with an OEM on an appliance in our prior TT. That particular OEM stated that they don't really recognize the RV builder as the "original purchaser" for warranty purposes since the item was intended for resale. Just like when you buy something from Wally World, Sears, etc. Again, either fill out and mail or register the items online (if available), it certainly cannot hurt your chances of getting support down the road.

As a side note: I registered my 2 Yamaha generators, online, for their warranty. One was subsequently stolen and then was brought to a dealer for "warranty repair". They looked it up and found out it was recently registered to someone else. They called me, as the registered owner, and I informed them it was stolen. Police and insurance companies got involved, real fast. I was not privy to the final outcome as the insurance company had already "made me whole" for the theft. Hope they found the thief.
