Removing bath sink pop-up stopper

The pop-up sink stopper in our rear bath is getting stuborn about popping back up and was wondering if it is possible to remove these stoppers to clean any soap residue around it?

Newmar said they had to remove the entire sink in the small bath on our first visit in order to make the stopper pop up instead of having to use our finger tips to pull it up in order to drain the sink. Claimed they had to replace the whole stopper. Now it pops up by pressing down and releasing, which the rear bath did at first but now getting stuborn .

If it is screwed on too tight, it won't pop up. Use your finger tips to unscrew it until it comes off, then press the plastic screw down. It will pop up and you can replace the stopper, just not as tightly on the screw.

I've done this on both rear bath sinks and have no problems since.
