As our Coach gets more and more snow on roof!! I was wondering about the need to remove before travel??? Rookie here!!!
At a minimum I would need to clear the Vents from Head and Drains and the Reefer Vent, What else?? or should it ALL be off or at least most of it??
Thanks Rick

It would be advisable to remove as much snow as possible. BE CAREFUL - it is slippery up there.
Hopefully, your AC units are covered already.
It is supposed to rain in Ontario on Saturday - that may remove a fair bit of the snow.

Kman Yes the rain we are supposed to get this weekend will melt some snow BUT we will get more before I head south in March!!!
The A/C units have a fibreglass cover that is on year round.

Recommendation learned after many years of skiing out of our motorhome;
Be extremely careful when removing snow from around your roof vent covers, skylights, refer vent covers, and air conditioning covers. All that cold snow and low temperatures make them extremely brittle. I used a household broom ever so lightly around these areas, still managed to break/crack something every now and then.
If you leave large amounts of snow on your roof your coach it will become extremely top heavy, which is scary. Also anyone traveling behind you will not appreciate you in the least cause eventually that snow goes somewhere and usually not down the front unless you stomp on the brakes. Be careful up there as others have said it is really slick on a snowy roof.

If you have a HIGH step ladder and a roof rake you will not have to get up on slippery roof.
In some states its required to remove snow off roofs before traveling in them.
Atleast you can get most off and heat from interior can help melt the rest around vents before traveling if it rains and warms up so much the better.

Why don't you just start the furnace a day or two early. No motor home has great insulation; so the ice will make a bed of water between it and the roof. Then just get it moving and brake hard. I bet it all comes of in a couple of tries. I do it right in my driveway.

Try this: http://www.snowcutter.com/ to remove your snow. On another concern is there a problem leaving the snow to just melt, will any water find its way into the Coach thru vents or any microscopic cracks?

Ron I don't think you would have any problem with 'Just letting it melt' as long as you have no leaks in the rain..there should not be any leaks with melting snow.
Its just if you want to head out 'Before' it all melts!!

Rick, I sure hope you will have gotten rid of the snow if you plan to visit with us in Crosville on your way back from FL. Otherwise some of my neighbors might want some as at best they only get 1 or 2 inches a year-and that is a bad year. Us on the other hand we are 60 miles southeast of Phoenix and have not seen a flurry--otherwise we would be another 60-80 miles southeast. Best regards and have a nice holiday, Ken...
