Removing residential frig from Baystar

Hello! I purchased a new 2023 Bay Star 3014 on 9/15/2022.

My dealer replaced the refrigerator as the door was warped and not sealing at the bottom.

However, when they installed the new one it sticks out about an in further into the already narrow hallway (when the slides are in)

Here’s the before and after. Note how the frig body is flush with the cabinet before and not after.

I’m wondering if anyone with experience installing the frig can provide insight or advice for properly installing the frig inside the cabinet.

I also took this picture from the top of the frig. The have wedged a metal bracket between a block of wood and the decorative trim. That doesn’t look right as the trim is bowing.

Can you get in there with a hand saw to trim it slightly?

Thanks, but I think I’d need to remove the frig. It’s a very tight space. I know the metal flange was part of the OEM installation, but I think they put it back incorrectly.

If the new fridge is the exact same as the old one than it is fairly obvious it was not installed all the way in the enclosure.

I am hoping someone else here has removed the fridge and could describe what needs to be done to correctly install it.

You have three choices here
1. live with it
2. warranty appt. at dealer
3. remove visible fasteners and try to push the fridge further into the opening.

You can also make an appointment to have it fixed at the factory. Long drive but if you are planning a trip that direction it may be your best option.

Thanks all! I will talk to the advisors about moving the bracket on the top of the frig to position it further back into the cabinet.

I have a 2021 Baystar 3124 - I've had to remove my residential fridge twice - not sure how similar the install is since the 2023 had some design updates but I'm not thinking refrigerator mounting would change, so maybe the below info helps. My fridge sits 16.5 in off the floor (it's actually sitting over the furnace)

First I had to build a structure to roll the fridge out on to, so I wasn't having to lift or drop. Then, there is a metal bracket screwed on to the top of the fridge - this bracket is screwed into a wood brace mounted to the wood cabinet structure. (you can see this best if you open the door then shine a light into the gap between the fridge and the cabinet structure). That process frees up the top of the fridge.

The bottom has two brackets (one on the bottom of the fridge and one on the wood cabinet structure) - these hook to each other - you release by simultaneously pushing the bottom of the fridge back and rolling the top out and toward you - once you have cleared the cabinet bracket you then slide the fridge out towards you. The unit was two wheels on the back that allows you to roll it out towards you and on to the temp platform.

To re-install you roll the fridge back until the fridge bracket pops up and over the cabinet bracket - then screw the top-of-cabinet bracket back to the wood brace.

I'm wondering if when they re-installed the fridge they only rolled the fridge back against the bottom bracket and didn't complete the up-and-over action - this could be a potential safety issue because there is nothing holding the bottom of the fridge from rolling out and snapping the top restraint - this could occur on a sharp turn or emergency maneuver.

I'm wondering if when they saw the bottom was out (bc they didn't realize it was not installed properly) they added the plywood piece and the metal shim to compensate for the resulting gap.

Just some help and thoughts from my own experience.....

Really appreciate all the advice from the group. The tech said it was all the way into the cabinet until I showed him the diagram and photos from this group. He was able to maneuver it further inside and flush with the cabinet and it looks great. Thanks!
