Replace carpet with laminate flooring

Does anyone know if you have to replace the rollers in the slides going from carpet to laminate flooring? If anyone has done this, would like info you can give me.

Thank you very much,
Keith

no you don't have to replace them.. at least in my coach, they are adjustable... each roller has 2 bolts on the top that adjust height. BTW, the height adjustment doesn't seem to be that critical.

It depends on the difference in how high the different floorings are. We removed carpet from a 04 Essex and put in wooden flooring and did have to change the rollers. We learned that Newmar has over 100 different roller assemblies and that was one of the hardest part on the job. If there isn't much difference ( 1/8 ) inch or less shouldn't need to change rollers. You have a little roller adjustment to make higher by adding shims under rollers. To work under slide you will need to raise the slide out by using 2by4 on the outside above slide out on each end so you can work. Should be a You Tube on raising Newmar slide outs to work on rollers.

Depends on the thickness of the laminate. I replaced the carpet in my 2010 Dutchstar 4333 with Luxury Vinyl plank. I did not have to change the rollers. I replaced the carpet in the bedroom (2 slides) and in the main dining table/couch slide. For the bedroom the vinyl plank was 5/16 " thick, The carpet and pad compressed was close to this in thickness so no change for me. I would think 3/8" laminate would be no problem.
For the main dining table/couch slide on my coach I had to add 3/8" plywood to the slide so that when slide was out, the vinyl plank would cover the gap and rest on top of the tile floor. I could upload some pictures if needed.
For the bedroom slide as posted above I needed to jack the slide up from the outside to make enough room to get the Vinyl Plank under the rollers.

ibnaz I would be interested to see the detail on the slide to tile floor interface. In the end does your slide out vinyl floor sit on top of the tile? What sort of edge if any did you put on the vinyl plank at the tile floor interface?

The Vinyl plank rest on top of the tile, no edge treatment. at it is only 5/16"thick the edge is not really noticeable.

I had to shim to get the floor height level with the tile so that the plank would rest on top.

Plywood in place.

Inserts I made to protect/support plank edge while slide is in.

Ibnaz Thanks for the photos & details. Good point on the inserts when the slide is in I had not thought about that.

We replaced the carpet in our 2003 DSDP with Luxury Vinyl Plank in the main living area and bedroom. Did not need to change or even adjust the rollers.
