Replaced our Convection Microwave

The original GE Profile Convection Microwave in our 2004 MADP died so we bought a new GE Convection Microwave from Home Depot for $458 plus tax early last November and it was delivered today.

I removed the old unit by first taking out the decorative panel held on with 2 sided tape and then the two mounting screws on each upper side behind the removable ventilation grate on top. The new unit uses the same rear mounting bracket.

Since the new replacement doesn't have a top removable vent grate, I used a 2x4 on top secured by the included usual mounting screws, lifted the unit up to engage the rear mounting tabs and screwed in 4" screws through the upper, existing 2x4 cross brace into the new 2x4 top mount. Tomorrow I will reattach the decorative panel with 2 sided tape. It took about 3 hours and it works great! Click image for larger version

Nice job. But before you toss out the old microwave.....check for a blown fuse in it. Also, my micro would run but not heat anything. Turned out to be a $7 resistor or capacitor (Forget which) I replaced myself.

I had replaced the fuse a couple times and it would work for a week or two then blow again. It was over 16 years old and not worth any more effort.

That is just the information I am looking for! Our fan won't stop running! We shut off the breaker but will really miss this appliance until we get home!
Thanks for posting this information and pictures

Have you used it strictly as a convection oven at times?
Does it heat up to temps? Looking to replace ours but it won’t heat up past 300f dispite the display saying it’s 375.

To be honest, we have not used the convection oven option. We also have a Breville counter-top convection oven that we use instead.
