On my 2007 Kountry Star the roof mounted CB antenna is broken. Both the antenna and mount are broken. (Looks like an encounter with a tree branch.) I would like to find a replacement but a google search came up dry.
The active element is an 18" flexible antenna with female thread mount at the base.
The mount is a mini-ball adjustable style mounted with three screws to the RV roof. The under-roof portion connects to the coax with an RCA type connector.
I could find no MFG information on any of the broken parts.
I would appreciate any information on what Newmar used for this so I could find a replacement. If it is not a "no ground plane" type I would probably be inclined to drill some holes and install a Firestick NGP type with a teardrop mount.

Have a nice day - Darrel

Last I knew, Newmar continues to install a ground plane antenna and antenna wire. Do you hace an SWR meter and know how to check and adjust any antenna that is installed? If not, consider taking the coach to a CB shop. They are located at or near many truck stops. I hear them advertising on the CB all the time.

If you take this to a pro, they should be able to determine the best solution. Labor should be under $100 if you use the factory installed wire. Make sure you are allowed to see the SWR reading on channel 1 and 40. The reading should be below 2 and close to the same for channel 1 and 40.

Thanks for the response Gary. I have used my SWR meter when I hooked up the CB. It reads a nearly 10 on channels 1, 40, and 19. That was what led me to investigate the antenna.
I believe I read about you installing a firestick antenna on your rig and looked to see if it was possible to do the same on mine. There is space between two steel frame members but I HATE making holes in my RV. I use the CB very little but if I need to use it I want it to work.

Have a nice day - Darrel

Hi Darrel,
Based on your posts, consider going to a CB shop. The shop should be able to provide a solution you'll be happy with.

Newmar uses "Cobra" brand / made CB antennas.
