Thanks 007, We are for sure impressed with the picture on the Samsung! We have a Vizio, RCA, flat screens at home and this Samsung rocks

cptngym, You should not have any problems doing the same thing, you are going to love it when done. Be sure to post photos of your install.

Replacing the tv in 2000 Dutch Star

I just completed my tv conversion and used BamBoom's post as a guideline. I would like to add my own pic's/comments for my install. I haven't figured out how to add the comments to each pic but I think the pic's are self explanatory. My biggest obstacle was finding the 2 screws that held the bezel in place and my pic shows clearly where they are and how to access them. I installed a 32" Vizio with a lockable wall mount. As an aside, I also have the lone cable (looks like an audio/video cable) that plugged into the back of the Phillips CRT tv. Does anyone know what this cable is/was for?

Replacing the TV in a 2000 Dutch Star

I missed adding the pic/file that shows where the passenger side screw is located that secures the Bezel frame. My apologies.

You should be able to control volume from a remote from amplifier or the LCD remote.

I just posted my completed Vizio lcd tv conversion on the website and have a question about the RCA cable as well. My old tv was a Phillips and the cable was plugged into the back of the Phillips. Also, I can't remember if the tv's sound ever came out of the 2 front ceiling speakers. Why can't I plug this 3.5mm RCA (Black) plug into the Audio Out on my new Vizio TV and expect sound from the ceiling speakers? I would think the new TV would have a amplifier of some sort if it has a 'Audio Out' jack connection which it does have.

At the beginning of this thread I post this-- if you have this unit you can plug the two RCA leads from LCD tv into where I plugged in my IPod "Y" cable in the installation of IPod, AUX-2 of radio program, in Item #1 in QT's 1 & 2.

The two RCA inputs next to the IPod inputs would work also if you wanted the IPod installation also, would just be AUX-3 on radio program.

The two RCA leads out of your LCD are just sound off the LCD and need amplification which the XA-300 will provide over the Sony radio sound system which has the amplification for your ceiling speakers .

Now if you do not have a DVD/ AM-FM- 5.1 SURROUND SYSTEM you can install the system I put in, Item # 2 of QT's 1 & 2, that may have a small inverter connecting outlet so you can use the AM-FM AND DVD DISKS part of system driving down the road.

I put a 32" Vizio into a friends MH a few years ago. We had the same problem. The RCA outputs didn't work.

We had to use a fiber optics cable out of the Vizio to a new amplifier. That was the only way for us to get sound to his surround sound system.

I went another way. Since I'm computer illiterate I don't know how to post pic's. I built a cabinet thin enough to hold a 46" Samsung HDTV and mounted it below the livingroom window behind the couch on the passenger side. It only protrudes 6 1/2" from the wall, so it really doesn't eat up any living space to speak of. It has a lift(Nexus) to raise and lower the TV. Where the old head banger was I raised the bottom of the cabinet so it's even with the other two, and mounted a door. I'm not claiming credit for the idea, I saw another poster's build and thought it was a great idea of a way to upgrade the TV, and get rid of that protrusion in the front. I got sick and tired of having a head full of scabs.

Rnicfingrp ,
Great install, can you tell me the name of the locking cantilever TV wall mount? My mod is pretty much exactly like yours and am trying to find the right mount...
Thanks,
Barry

The mount is a "Master Mounts LCD Locking Cantilever Mount part #403L". Price was $66.58 which included s/h. I also bought a smaller, non-locking cantilever mount for the 19" LCD for the bedroom (simple to install this tv). It was a "Cheetah Mounts Articulating Arm TV Wall Mount part #ALAMB". Price was $22.55 including s/h. I bought both of them from Wayfair.com. All mounting hardware was included and the smaller mount even included a 6' HDMI cable. Both mounts work perfectly.

TV Install

Palehorse89.....Thanks for the pictures, we just bought a 40" to replace the old center TV. We could not agree on how to mount it whether to restrict the use of the upper cabinets, I had not thought about mounting it from the side. This may solve our problem. How does the TV travel with the velcro? Would you do anything different now that its been installed and on the road?
