Replacing leveler return springs

I have a 99 DSDP and the rear drivers side leveler has a tough time comng back up to where it is fully retracted. I assume that the fix for this is to replace the springs. Is the only source for springs the manufacturer of the system? Is there a special procedure for replacing them?
My current procedure is to use a long 2 x 4 and prying is up using the ground as a base and pushing against the bottom plate of the leveler.
Thanks
Jim

Max Hubrich has a way to replace the springs, can be found in Quick Tips.
Many other HWH information there also.

Anybody ever just take a turn out of the original springs? Mine are just weak when they are retracted. Even thinking of drilling the mounting hole lower in bottom plate. Original springs to me are just one turn to long.

You could try but steel may be tough to cut and may have to heat to bend.
If cut to short the spring will loose it tension.

I'm going to try it. Heat spring with torch and cut off excess. They do it for garage door springs. If it don't work, have to replace them anyway. I'm betting they will retract faster. Plate on left rear is loose when retracted. Drifts down after a few days.
