Replacing our RV tires

Most of us replace our motor home tires after 6 years or sooner. Wanted to share with irv2 forum members the our RV tires have a value when they are replaced and can be used in the tire replacement sale. A DS owner was able to get 100$ for each of his 6 year old tires which would then be used for a trailer and maybe a short haul truck. They wouldn't give him the cash for his old tires, but they did work a deal with the purchase of tires, mounting and balance. We have purchased many sets of tires over the last 30 years and just hadn't been aware of this. Pete's Tires in Southern California was the company he purchased them from.

When I got new tires for our prior Bounder, the center contacted a local truck service center that took them for resale for just that purpose. We didn't pay a disposal fee & I know we got some discount (on top of our FMCA price) off the new tires we bought because the center didn't have to go to the hassle of disposing of them themselves. I know it wasn't $100 per tire, but it was something.

Last time I changed tires on my previous Alpine I got $75 for each tire at Loves. You need to take this into account when shopping around.

Think many RV owners haven't realized that what we think are old tires aren't worth much but the tire dealers love to do business with us. Because we have used tires we don't realize there value.
