Replacing TracVision Sat with Winegard SK-SWM3 Slimline Automatic Multi-Satellite TV
I'm strongly considering replacing the Tracvison domed sat system with the Winegard SK-SWM3 Slimline Automatic Multi-Satellite TV Antenna. Has anyone done this/or had it done on a DS similar to ours. Any issues? I will also be purchasing the Travler metal Mounting Plate, which is shaped much like an ice cream cone , to mount the new sat on. Do the screw holes from the old install line up with the new install?

I had a Tracvision and you are making a good choice, in my opinion. I currently have the manual Winegard, but will upgrade in the not so distant. No, the metal mount plate will not line up with your Tracvision holes. No biggie. Regardless of roof type, I'd rec you fill your old holes with 3M 4000UV (fast Cure) or 5200 (fast cure). I've used both for old sat holes with great success. Do not use the 5200 on anything you may need to remove at some point, for example your Winegard mount plate. The 4000 is good for that. Since the 5200 is not as UV stable as the 4200, I sometimes get a bit anal (like last weekend) and use the 5200 to fill the holes and then a dab of 4000 on top for the UV protection. I've also tested the 5200 on a roof by itself and after a couple of years, it had zero degradation, for what it's worth.

You will be happy with the change out; I have one on my MH for several years now and we happy with it. When I traded 2008 DS for 2011 DS part of the deal was that they swap the in-motion sat for my existing Traveler or no deal. None of the holes line up and i did not get metal mounting plate. no problem

It's not a hard job. More handyman work than anything. I usually use a dab of Dicor in the old holes and then cover the Dicor filled hole with Etrnabond about four inches square.
We sell about one mounting plate for every 20 or 30 Travlers. I have no words of wisdom to help decide to use one or not, it is your personal decision. The plate serves two purposes, one is the cover the roof where the LNB arm roller touches down, and the other is to add another dozen screws through the roof to spread the load across a larger section of roof. If you have a rubber, TPO or any type of membrane roof, I strongly recommend the SKA004 roller plate if you do not use the SKA008 mounting plate. (If you use the SKA008 mounting plate, the roller plate is not needed. The "cone" part of the ice cream cone shape is where the roller touches down.)
The absolute hardest part of the job is getting the Travler on the roof safely....

My thanks to those that took the time to reply along with any suggestions/recommendations. Will be make a decision very soon. This last July 2015, we attended a large 1500+ rig FMCA rally in Madison, Wisconsin and purchased the Winegard Carryout G2 portable sat from one of the vendors along with the Winegard HD DVR Model HR24-200 receiver installed through DirecTV. Hopefully this will work with the SK-SWM3 roof sat as I will keep the portable unit for those times when trees may interfere.
