Replacing Water Pump
Do you need to empty the water tank if you are replacing the water pump to keep water from draining into the water compartment? I saw a thread (that I can no longer find) that someone said they added a shutoff valve in one of the lines to keep from having to do this. I would love to find that discussion again so I can figure out what line he put the valve on.
Thanks,
Tim

Most RVs are plumbed with some shutoff valves around the water pump. I'd be surprised of you don't have a shutoff valve between your fresh water tank and your water pump. Have you looked?
I replaced a water pump in one of my RVs a few months ago. Ended up being a pretty easy job.
Note: You likely need to prime the pump with water once you get the new one installed. On my RV, it had a secondary line sticking up (and capped) that would allow me to pour some water in while the pump is running to "get it started".
Let us know how it goes.
Chris

As long as you're in there doing the pump exchange, consider adding and accumulator. It stops the pump from cycling with an open faucet. It doesn't have to be this brand but the link below is an example.
SHURflo Accumulator at Amazon

Tim,
I do not have a shutoff valve between the tank and pump, so I drained mine prior to re-plumbing my set up. Guess I could add one as there is plenty of room. As has been said, this might be a good opportunity to relocate yours and add an accumulator to reduce the pulsing. I did, and I found a Kolerflow pump that puts out 5 GPM @ 55PSI and is quiet. About $70.00 on Amazon.\
My new set up. Two bolts, 2 wires, and 2 lines and the whole rig comes out.

Clamp the hose and then disconnect it if you're concerned. I always add a different pump to my coaches as I don't care for the low flow thumping ShurFlo's they use. On my 2019 DS, I left the OEM pump in place and added a new FloJet variable speed pump to the floor of the wet bay. I cut the wires to the OEM pump, put spade connectors on the old and new pump wiring so they could easily be swapped if necessary. The hoses had enough length to install on the new pump on the floor of the wet bay. I capped the water ends of the OEM pump. Now I have a spare in place in case I need one.
There is no need for an accumulator tank, that's old school. Just buy a variable speed pump like the FloJet.

Do you have a picture of what you did with the pump on the bay floor?

You can see it in the left corner. I always install a pad, like a mouse pad, under the pump to increase the sound deadening.

Fantastic, thank you. I feel that this may be the route to go as it is so difficult to get to the screws holding the OEM pump up.

I used a REMCO 3.4 gpm Aquajet which is a variable speed pump. Also found it's easier to replace (I used the same spot) while sitting down on the ground with legs underneath the rig.

This is what I used, it's gone up in price, but has been a good, quiet pump. The variable speed is what makes them quiet.

Water Pump and Macerator
Hi DS Don. I like your pictures of the wet bay. Do you have more details on your Sani-con 400s installation, including the output fittings and the connection outside the coach. My 2014 MA wet bay looks very close to yours and am considering replacing my older 1" sani-con with a turbo model.

No need to drain the water tank to replace the pump. Turn off park water supply, turn off water pump switch, drain pressure using the outdoor shower. You will get a small amount of water left in the lines to the pump, but not much.
