reset slide

I connected my battery's in series causing a problem with my front slide. Then reconnected the battery's properly in parallel. The front slide turns on automatically now and try's to open when already open.
How do I reset the slide ? 1999 Newmar Kountry Star.

Thanks, I'm new at this.

Hi manysocks,
Welcome to iRV2 and the Newmar Owners Forum. My assumption is your batteries are 12 V not 6 V batteries. If this is true, the slide controller card may be fried and need to be replaced. Consider contacting Newmar and having them provide guidance. The pressure of the slide contacting the side of the coach raises the AMP draw on the motor and the control card senses this and turns the slide off. Prior to completing a repair, consider disconnecting the slide motor when the slide is in the position you want it. Then when the slide is to be moved, reverse the motor leads and the slide will reverse direction.

WARNING: You will need to stand by so when the slide is completely open or closed be ready to disconnect the slide motor power leads.

I don't know where to look for the wire harness to do that. I will call Newmar tomorrow. I am able to shut it off, however the motor thumps before I can do stop it.
I am concerned about doing further damage. Even with the key in the ignition it keeps pushing out thought it is already fully extended. The back slide works fine. I thought that I might just be able to reset it ?
So thankful for your reply.

Welcome to the forum and irv2.
Here is a Brochure and Owners Guide for you.
Below in my signature are links to many more for your coach.
The control maybe in a hutch cabinet or kitchen cabinet.
It was in the hutch cabinet in my 99 MACA.
Your slide spec --- The different slide controls

When ever any one changes batteries always disconnect the 12v plug on controller or pull the 12v fuse in fuse panel for slide.

Also if you change the chassis battery do the same disconnect for slides and when you connect the battery cables to the chassis battery always connect the positive cables first, than the battery ground cable or you run the risk of frying circuit boards in your dash area, like cruise control, wipers, mirrors, rear camera, plus the possibility of moving out your LR SLIDE EVEN LOCKED.

Hi manysocks,
The slide motor and wires are under the slide. They can be accessed via the basement. If it was me, I'd buy a portable 12 VDC auto jump start battery (Walmart or any auto parts store). Until the repair is complete, leave the slide motor completely disconnected from coach power. Use the portable jump start battery to power the slide motor and move the slide in or out. The warning in my previous post still applies.

I've done this for many rally attendees who found themselves in the same situation as you. You may need to cut the motor power wires and make a splice so the wire can be connected to the portable jump start battery.

Thanks you. I appreciate your input and experience. I will keep you posted I am a novice to this. The electrical system in these homes seems complicated.
regards
